Why is the listing interface setup to catch you slipping when it comes to offers?

I hate this feature where eBay throws out a super low ball suggestion for accept offers at X. If you don't catch it the buyer gets a super great deal while you get stiffed.

I'm not sure why eBay makes you click expand to see this. I think this was done on purpose.

@paxilill

Can you share a specific example?  I have never had this happen.  Are you saying it is checking a box you do not want checked at the time of listing?

Are you saying ebay "suggested" xxx amount, you agreed to go ahead and take Ebay's suggestion? You must have agreed or there would not have been a best offer on your listing. Always check to see what you are agreeing to before saying OK.

I think "auto-accept offers" is a horrible idea to begin with, but that's just me.

I allow offers on some listings.

never use auto-accept offers...under any circumstances.
