Why is ebay still quoting first class shipping to Australia?????

Why is ebay still quoting first class shipping to Australia?  I just had a buyer contact me for a shipping quote for 2 small items that were listed as first class mail that he won at auction.  First class hasn't been available to Australia for almost a year I believe.  Already got stuck once on this and had to work around on another which is still stuck in UPS customs.  These are brochures that weigh under a pound for each shipment.  Paying 40.00 for UPS (discounted through Pirate ship) or 60+ through the USPS is ridiculous and the customer will not do it,  and I will not eat eat 20-30.00 in shipping for a 10.00 item.  I already did once just to keep my customers happy and we see what ebay cares about that.

Your listings have very few countries 'excluded'. You need to 'exclude' Australia and probably many other places.

Australia has only been the last 3 months (9/14)  of NOT being handled by USPS. If your listings are older than that, the system still shows them. This is temporary.

The fix is not waiting for ebay to fix something that may be temporary and therefore may NEVER be fixed. You need to exclude correctly (and many more).. do you ship to Russia?

The listings are 1 week old auctions that just ended.   If they haven't been allowing 1st class for over 3 months then it's time for them to address the problem.

We pay ebay good money to do a job.  A pretty specific relatively simple one.  We are the one that has to buy the merchandise, get it ready to sell,  Photo it, list it, ship it and wait for the repercussions of any problems,  all while guaranteeing , one way or another they will get it and it will be exactly as expected.  They just have to provide the programming to do that.  It's not too much to ask for them to atleast perform that competently.  I'm almost positive first class issues have been longer than that as I fought with the one over the summer.

As we have learned over the last year,  none of the **bleep** we are dealing with worldwide is temporary.

I blocked Australia when the mail service stopped shipping there.   But if you are in the UK you can can still use ebay international standard or the gsp to ship to Australia.

They didn't know it would still be going 3 months later. That's why it's called 'temporary'.

I stopped shipping overseas seven years ago.  I block all of them.  You need to make sure you exclude every country you don't want to ship to on every listing.  Ebay will not automatically default to cover our bases.  Even back when I shipped to Europe and Australia I was bombarded with "why is the postage so expensive? emails.  I got tired of explaining the GSP out of Kentucky.

I ship to several countries.  Not offering international shipping to most countries is shooting yourself in the foot, Especially if you are doing auctions.  I ship 60-100 items to a fellow in the Netherlands every month and that doesn't count for the prices he drives the auctions to that he doesn't win.  Another buyer in Canada buys around 100 items a month as well.  That's month after month after month.  You can do the math but when you ship out 500-$2000 a month to one buyer,  that's only a smart business practice if you want to succeed.

My big complaint is even if it's temporary,  ebay knew nothing was going to change short term when they suspended service, anybody with a 1/4 brain could see that.  Once you stop doing anything there is always a big lag in start up,  if it ever resumes.   We pay them to handle stuff like this.  If the postal service doesn't even offer that service,  how can they even quote it,  especially since rates have changed across the board for almost everything since.

Yup I pay them around $15,000 in Fees a year.  Not to mention the money I spend on this site buying inventory to resell.  That's atleast another 20,000 they are collecting fees on from the sellers I buy from.  I even try to do all the online shopping I can for other items  on ebay so I support sellers like myself avoiding Amazon if possible.   It's so stuff like this is taken care of.  I jump through all the hoops to make their job easier.  We just would like a little of that effort back.

You can ship to Australia using eBays standard international delivery or Pirateship Asendia.

I never stopped selling AND SHIPPING to Australia.

Through Prateship Asendia 1 pound to Australia is about $10-12. And if you are billing your buyer for the shipping then you are not "eating" anything.

The seller puts the shipping cost he pays at risk every time he ships a package, because the seller eats that shipping cost if he loses an INR or INAD dispute.

I think the OP was really saying that he was not willing to put $20-$30 at risk over a $10 item. The OP stated in his first post that already has one item stuck in customs.

What is pirateship Asendia?  I've never heard of it and have been using pirate ship daily for I and my wife's separate accounts for over a year.

I figured out the Asendia and will give it a try.  Odd Pirate ship has you enroll in it and have to ask to get it.  Surprised it's not just a regular option.
