Why is eBay supporting price gouging?

Ebay has put out a policy and report form for suspected price gouging yet there are literally thousands of grossly overpriced essentials being sold every hour.

One quick search for isopropyl alcohol brings up more than 1400 ads, most offering it from 5 to 100 times the retail price.

I witnessed 2 32 oz bottles of Equate 91% isopropyl alcohol (cost $2.50 ea) sell for $350 last night (search 'sold listings', it's in there.)

So ebay is actually the worst profiteer of all. They are making millions per day in final value fees while deflecting blame to the sellers.

It would be a relatively simple matter to write an algorithm that would catch and prevent this. Ebay reps tell us to report it, but continue to let thousands of improper listings go up each day.

I'll bet an algorithm has been written. One that computes the profit left over after all the fines and legal fees have been paid from the inevitable investigations and lawsuits to follow.

Apparently ebay is still in the black on this one.
