Why have a Postive feedback button?

Why have a Postive button we need to click when Positive is the only option when leaving feedback? Someone got paid to design this?

Oh, that's right, all buyers deserve a Positive for the transaction. What was I thinking?

Re: Why have a Postive feedback button?

These are the kinds of threads that will get them to delete the ability of sellers to leave FB for buyers at all.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Re: Why have a Postive feedback button?

It was not designed that way. It was originally designed so that sellers could leave negative feedback for buyers, but this was discontinued in 2008.

To keep stroke buyers, keep them happy and give them some false sense of importance, they just left the "positive" part in, for what reason beyond that who really knows.

I think there’s a positive button because you also have options to leave feedback later and to report the buyer.

Re: Why have a Postive feedback button?

Likely eBay will take over this function for busy sellers one of these days.

Like, we used to have to open Unpaid Item cases on buyers who had failed to pay for their purchases in order to either get paid or have our fees refunded and the item freed up to relist.  - -  Then eBay gave us a design where Ebay would take over that function FOR US, and eBay would file the UPI case against the buyers and close the case out against them... all without we busy sellers having to lift a finger about it.  Ebay took over filing the cases and freed us of that part of our business effort.

Perhaps shortly eBay will just take over the leaving of feedback for sellers too, so busy sellers won't have to take the time to click their latest round of feedbacks into existence for their buyers.  We'll likely be able to just set that up with eBay and turn the whole thing over to them, and forget it, and ebay will enter the feedback remarks for all buyers... same thing over and over and over... blah, blah...  blah, blah...

To allow smart sellers the opportunity to give their buyers a public  "thank you" for their purchase, and to add to a score that many buyers feel good about.

It is not required.

Re: Why have a Postive feedback button?

I know it's not required. And I do prvide feedback for anyone who buys an item from me.

I'm just asking, why even make a button to click? It make no sense at all.  Write it out of the code.

Re: Why have a Postive feedback button?

Some of it is just legacy code.

At one time sellers could leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers.

It was removed because some sellers were taking business problems personally, and that hurt all sellers.

The more recent Unpaid Item Dispute strikes and the ability to Block any customers, even those we've never seen before, who have deadbeat Strikes is a vast improvement.

Who do you think reads Feedback?

Not the customer. He already knows what you think and doesn't care.

Not your fellow sellers. Only about 15% of listings are Auctions and most of those have a Buy It Now option or get any bidding in the last few moments. Those sellers don't have time to check feedback.

The FB reader is your future customer.

Who just decided not to deal with a drooling anger monkey and backbuttoned out to a more friendly seller.

Re: Why have a Postive feedback button?

Many people we leave feedback for are happy to get feedback. If you read the boards at all, you would never say that buyers OR sellers don't care about getting feedback. Many still do.
