Why does this transaction not feel right??

I have a pair of deadstock ,from the 90s ,Levis 501 jeans. All tags and never been washed. I have a good offer to purchase both. I just don't have a good feeling for some reason. The buyer has messaged me in broken English instead of following the make offer process through Ebay. I also say in my return policy and in the listing that I accept returns as long as item is the same condition I sent it.  I also spelled this out when I answered his message. These are shrink to fi jeans so he will have to cut the tags off and wash them and if they don't fit can he open a claim that they were not as described. Will I end up with two pairs of jeans no tags and major lost value. I'm thinking of saying no thanks to his offer.

thanks for any thoughts

Your only cause for your hesitation is the broken English?

Why would you even consider selling to a buyer you already know is trouble? Be thankful he made an offer instead of an outright purchase. Not every day you get to vet a buyer in advance. Those jeans should easily sell.

Listen to your gut.

You don't have to worry about not having enough people wanting to buy them.

Unfortunately I've been scammed a couple of times and had multiple scam attempts and the common denominator was a message, in broken English, inquiring about the items. Therefor I'm a little gun shy when I receive a message in broken English.

In what country is the buyer registered? This might or might not be an international sale. Genuine Levis are hugely popular in Europe, to the point that when I was traveling back and forth between here and the UK in the 1980s, I would occasionally bring over US-purchased Levis as gifts or purchased for British friends, since the jeans were much more expensive over there. I don't know why their appeal would have decreased since then.

Having said that, I don't think I'd spend too much time on someone who's not even making offers through the channels set up for that. You might want to BBL that guy to avoid future headaches, and just stop responding. I think you should find a lot of interest for those vintage new items here, limiting your sales to US-only if you're more comfortable with that.
