Why does ebay even give a seller the option of issuing no refunds when they automatically side with the buyer?
I have been an ebay user for many years, but until this year I was only a buyer. I finally decided to start selling of some of my childhood nostalgia pieces as they were just hiding away in boxes. So I've been selling for about 2 months now and noticed that when I list my vintage Sanrio stationary products, I started getting a lot of bids/buys from accounts with zero feedback So when a user with a feedback score of 1 won an auction, I was already a little nervous about sending my precious memories, but this person had paid, so I send it anyway. In the listing I made very clear with numerous pictures and verbal description that the stationary sets were not complete, as I had used some of the stickers/envelopes when I was a kid. Pictures were very clear. Description was very clear. Also clear was that I do not accept returns. So the buyer immediately puts in a request for a refund saying the item was "damaged" because some of the stickers were missing. I explained that I don't accept refunds and that the item was exactly as described in the listing. This person was HORRIBLE at communicating, which had me believing it was probably someone scamming me. I even offered a partial refund with no response from the buyer. So I thought that ebay would step in, look at my return policy, look at the listing, look at our message history, and see that clearly the item was not damaged. Ebay automatically sided with the buyer without even reviewing the case. Issued the buyer a refund.
Now we wait to see if I actually get my Sanrio stationary sets back.
And WHY can I not leave a negative feedback score? Only sellers can get negative feedback? RIDICULOUS!!!!

Ebay's message said the buyer was asked to return the item, and will be refunded as soon as tracking shows the item was delivered to me. So at least there is hope of getting it back... but even if I do, I'm still having to pay return shipping and ebay fees. All because a buyer didn't look at all the pictures and read the description. And I was naive to think ebay seller protection meant something.
I hope it's not an empty package like I've been reading about in other sellers' stories today.

I looked at the bear stationary both pictures and description and it's really hard to tell what's actually there from the pictures and the description does not mention anything about missing stickers.
You need to give a full inventory of everything that is included in a listing. Otherwise you are going to find this scenario playing out over and over.

The photos show the stickers missing.

You might not be looking at the right one. The photos are very large and close-up and clear.

it's hard to figure out what exactly is there from your photos because you don't remove all the items and give a detailed listing.
You absolutely must give a physical description of every single item in your lot.
but hey don't take good advice let it keep happening and whine and complain to eBay is being mean to you

Funny how I am expected to communicate with sellers ship within 3 days and they can seemingly cancel at will or request a refund after delivery or open a case mid return but I cant even cancel something I dont want to pay on ebay for without the consent of a potential thief.

I believe you are very new to buying on ebay and very unaware of how the site works.
You are not expected to communicate with sellers if you are simply placing an order. I am not sure why you feel that is necessary but perhaps you are a new bueyr and highly anxious.
All sellers don't ship in three days. Sellers are allowed to choose their handling time; many ship either sooner or later than that. They have a wide range of times they can choose, even thirty days if they care to. You go by the estimated delivery time frame on the listing. If you don't like that, then you need to refrain from buying. Sellers used to list their handling time, but Ebay decided to remove that, saying the estimated delivery timeframe was sufficient.
I'm not sure why the seller is a potential thief now, when you didn't think so before you bought~since you would have chosen to not buy then, correct?
But if he is a potential thief because he did not cancel or get back to you in your time frame, which is not the time frame allotted, then that may not be true.

________
If it was the bear stationary your listing does not mention anything about missing stickers.
I found a listing that stated that although there were originally 35 sticker or sticker sheets, only 33 came with it as the others were used.

You're telling me it's hard to see in this picture that some of the stickers are missing?

I see; you had said the buyer was refunded, past tense, when he has not yet been refunded as you are awaiting delivery of the returned item. A refund that had occurred without receiving the item back means the item won't be coming back. Hopefully you get back what you sent. Sorry, I know this is frustrating when you had an accurate listing.
It may be that the buyer won't return the item, and you won't have to refund.

I think you found the wrong listing. There are several bear stationery listings; I found one that stated although it had 35 stickers, now it only had 33 due to usage.

It must have also been very difficult to discern what was meant when the description said THESE SETS ARE NOT COMPLETE.

Here is the description. Actually I was on a wrong listing as well, but I just used the link the OP provided.
Brand new the erasers are a little damaged and stickers are missing 2 pieces. Overall great condition

Actually, OP, no offense, but looking at that picture, I have no idea that anything is missing. And you know it needs to be stated in the description. I mention that because I am not sure now that the link that was posted is connected to this picture.

Seller are protected against INR, item not received cases, if they have tracking that proves delivery and enter it into the case.

I took a second look and I can see that the left hand side of the folder, has some bear stickers missing. Now if I were buying, I scrutinize the listing and pictures very carefully, and use zoom, which may have made that more readily apparent to me. But just looking at it casually, nothing leapt out at me as being missing. Possibly the buyer bought on a phone and didn't notice that or check the description. Some don't even know how to do that. Not making excuses for the buyer, but sometimes a buyer doesn't do their due diligence and buys before realizing what they are buying. Sorry that has cost you money.
