Why does eBay still operate like it's 1996 when it comes to non-paying bidders

I really have to wait four days before I can start the process? Why is this even a process? The money should be pulled from the bidder at auction close or they should be given 24 hours to pay from the time of auction close to pay.

eBay seems to think it's 1996 where everyone is on dial up and they only have landline phones.

We all have to operate under eBay's rules and policies, even those we don't like.

If you want immediate payment, then you might want to consider fixed price, immediate payment required.

You could/can still get hit up with not as described return and have to pay return shipping and get an empty box back or charge back and loose the item, $20 and refund full price if you force a sale.
