Someone bought a lot of 30 keyboards. My title says "LOT of 30 Logitech Wired Keyboard for Apple iPad 1/2/3rd Gen w/ 30-Pin Connector". Today I was hit with a Return Approved request.
I don't know why people do this. I said 1/2/3 gen, not 9th gen. I said with 30-pin connector. Newer ipad has very small connectors. I did free shipping. I guess that I have to eat this up, disgusting.

I only have a snake that doesn't make noise.
As opposed to those who listen to thrash metal turned up to 12.

@cstpos wrote:@dreambooks It happens more than it should. When you issue the refund, make sure you deduct the cost of shipping and return shipping. When it prompts you to input the deduction amount, add the return label and the ship to label cost together and enter that number. The buyer might dispute the deduction, but they might not. Especially since you clearly stated what you were selling.
It was free shipping, so they can't deduct anything.
Since the buyer said it didn't fit, they should pay return shipping.

@dreambooks wrote:Thanks. Is it possible to deduct shipping cost? How do you find out the returning shipping cost and who paid it?
No, it was free shipping, so you can deduct anything.
If the buyer had paid shipping, then you could deduct it from the refund.
If the reason for the return was it didn't fit, that would be a remorse return and the buyer would pay return shipping.

If the buyer filed a INAD return you CANNOT deduct the return or original postage’s paid by buyer. You have to give it ALL back to the buyer, no and if’s or buts. You cannot deduct a restocking fee either.
You just have to chalk it up as a cost of doing business.

What is your policy on returns? That is what determines who pays for return shipping. You should get an invoice from eBay listing what the return breakdown is. eBay likely already sent the return label to the buyer. When you receive the package back, they will be really quick to request you finish the return. When you go to process the return, a drop down will give you options to choose. Remember they can still give you a Neutral or Negative feedback and if you dispute the return, you may lose your fees paid to eBay. It pays to be nice at this point and eat the shipping. Relist your item and you're back in business. I know it's a hassle but this is the way it is. Good Luck

It is supposed to work that way but what really determines who pays return shipping is the reason they choose when they file a return. Hardly any buyer says I changed my mind or found it cheaper or I made a mistake. If they choose doesn't fit and find out they have to pay for the label they come here and say I opened the wrong case and we say too bad and they file a chargeback. The sellers are at the mercy of the buyers.
The only way to stay sane is offer free shipping and free returns and build the cost of return and original shipping into the item cost. Which means you can't sell low cost items.

Yet for me, building free shipping and free returns into the cost just rips off 97% of my customers by inflating prices for my 3% return rate. Zappos can get away with high prices for all of that FREE but I just sell pre-owned stuff and there's only so much I can charge. I'd rather just be up front about costs. Fortunately, most people are honest.

Make sure to block the buyer. I would also report them for abusing the mbg/return system because this is their fault, they failed to read the item description in the header, item detail comment and item description. The items were exactly as described, they didn't read the description. Therefore abuse of the ebay return policy. This one is on them 100%.

The human race has tripled in just 50 years.
The US Population has increased by 50% in that same time span.
Cross breading has been the biggest killer of Poodles and Beagles....
you do the math.

My partner is a serial returner, she comes home from a shopping spree and as she unpacks her goodies she makes a pile of stuff to return.
Her comment "this won't fit me", my silent reply "of course not, the label says "L", you haven't been an L for 30 years!"
Her comment "this is really flimsy", my silent reply "of course it is, didn't you notice that when you held it in hands at the store".
Thankfully she is computer illiterate and doesn't have a smartphone. She has never woken up to the fact that I, as a lifelong merchant just cringe when I hear the stories and look at the pile of returns.

Given some of the returns I have seen would say, dang yes. Dang was chosen to keep with in the rules of this board.

I have a sister-in-law that got blacklisted at TJ Maxx for returning too much stuff - she'd buy bags and then bring most of it back and kept doing it. I didn't think it was possible to get blacklisted at TJ Maxx. 🤤

I dont know if this would apply to your partner but some people just cannot bear to try stuff on in the store. This is what happens as a result after they try it on in the comfort of their own home.
Some will also buy two or three different sizes and then return whichever dont fit.
