I have a store with 400-500 items listed most of the time. Occasionally I will notice that a listing is missing. Can you tell why when I choose good till cancelled, some things end without me knowing it?

I have over 7200 listings right now. I will notice something in my inventory that I'm amazed hasn't sold.. I'll look it up and the listing isn't there. I also notice the number of items in my multiple item listings often will vary from reality. With all of my listings, it is impossible for me to check them all. As I list new items I do a spot check on the closest items and often find one missing.
My own theory is that it happens upon the monthly relist. I notice when I do "Sell Similar" sometimes I'll get an error message that a couple of them didn't go... excuses like missing data. Then when I pull those up one at a time and do "Sell Similar" it works. So I'm thinking as the monthly big rollover goes, the listings the system doesn't like have nowhere to go so they do just that, go nowhere! They don't update.

Well I guess in the world of massive computer servers and people constantly tweaking things codes will get messed up and things will just disappear or stop working ect. I remember when we had disappearing drafts, make up a bunch of drafts to list the next day and when you go to retrieve them, gone. They eventually fixed that bug but its' always something new is going to happen. Keeping those servers working in perfect harmony can be challenging.

Probably a database update glitch. I have listings disappearing, too. It's an old problem.

I've noticed the same thing, fortunately rarely. It's happening less than it once did, but every once in a while I'll discover that something is just completely gone, no record of it ever having existed on eBay.
Do make sure you do a regular eBay search for it, though, because I had at least one case where it didn't show in my active listings, but was active on the site under our username, it just needed to be revised to show up in our Active Listings page again. Very odd one, that one!

Good till cancel can also age off if they have been listed and relisted too long. No can't tell you if and or why that happens.

It happens to me all the time. I am sure right now I have at least dozens of things that have dropped off,

One time I was going to just keep a running score on a piece of paper, take a look at the active listings in my store, write that # down, list a item +1, sell the last item of a listing -1.
What I quickly discovered is that if I clicked on your little store door it is not unusual for the number of active listings shown to vary by quite a few, just now I clicked on it and it showed 1,274, I went to another page came back it showed 1,275, did it again it said 1,277.

I have wondered the same thing then I did discover one thing that was happening for me. When I hit relist item sometimes I hit "revise" item by mistake or the page "jumps" and I click the wrong button or whatever..so now my new listing just "revised" an old one and so ..Poof.. its gone.

I’ve noticed listings disappear after about 3 years. I definitely have to go through my inventory and take new pics of old items to list.

what does that mean?

Thanks for mentioning that, because that's exactly what happens for me with 'ghost' listings - they show up on the site, but not in my local listings. Fortunately, it hasn't happened often, but it has happened.
