Why do I have views?

I am located in Canada. Due to the rotating Postal Strikes here I put my store on vacation before October 22nd when the strikes started. I have used Vacation mode since they first invented it and I always make sure that my Fixed Items can't be seen by checking off the little box.

I have been using the time to get some listings done and launched thereby making the use of my 'Free' listings.  Should be no problem.

I have noticed that my new listings are getting Views which should be impossible so where are the numbers coming from?

I re-checked my Vacation settings and they have not changed. I signed out of my account and as a 'Guest' I did a search for one of my listings and it does not show and when I click on my name or Store it shows that I am away.

Some of these listings are showing 12  or 15 views and others are less but they should all be zero as they are invisible.

I am puzzled.

I see zero listings.  Perhaps those are views before your vacation setting was in place?

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

Are saying they were all zero before you put the store on vacation?

Why do I have views?

No....the views are on listings that I launched after I put the vacation settings on.

It's a mystery.

Then they are probably from eBay's indexing bots.

Is it possible that before you put your store on vacation someone put your items on their watch list? It might be possible for them to view your listings from their watch list.

I can find two of your completed listings -- when I follow a link I see the following message:

"This seller is currently away until Nov 09, 2018, and is not processing orders at this time. You can add this item to your watch list to purchase later."

The listing is ended, and there is no link to add to watch list, bid or buy.

Thank you for trying to solve the mystery.
No...these listings were not available before I put the store on Vacation. I have been using up the time that the Post Office is striking to make up new listings and launch them so that I was able to use my quota of 'free' listings before the end of October.

Thank you for trying to solve my puzzle.

If that is indeed the reason then I guess we can't trust those 'view' numbers when we are running live!

Thank you for checking. I signed out of my account and then searched one of my listings and yes...it showed 0 listings and my Store said I was on vacation..so how are people seeing them?
One of life's little mysteries!

I'm surprised there's not more threads and complaints about watchers and views similar to a few months ago. It's severely broken again. My views and watchers on the mobile app don't match my desktop views and watchers for most of my items. I wouldn't be surprised if somehow these errors in additon to potential indexing is a part of the problem.

As I type this I'm also curious whether someone that follows a store is able to see that stores items even if they're on vacation?

Why do I have views?

I can answer a part of your question. I have two accounts and on each I have my other one on my 'Favourite Sellers' list so I can check out what my store looks like in someone else's eyes. If my Store is on vacation I cannot see my listings by looking from my other account.
I have been at this for many years and when I put my Store on vacation I return to my listings about an hour later. I then click to select all and then click on Advanced Edit. It loads them and I don't make any changes...I just click Submit. Magically everything then goes on vacation!
I have passed that tip on to many people. Yet another work around we Sellers have to cope with.
So the mystery remains and I think you are probably right...they have totally messed up the Views & watchers numbers and now they are obviously pulling mine out of thin air!

Thank you all for your replies, I was hoping that there would be an answer but I think we will have to just put it down to more technical issues caused by eBay trying to evolve and spinning their wheels!!
