I haven't sold anything on eBay in years. I'm purging my book shelves and closet, and decided to list it all on eBay....but when I creaete my listing, it won't post because I'm not providing the sales tax percentage. I uncheked the "charge sales tax" box, but it still won't list my items. **bleep**? It's my old used stuff, and I'm not a retail establishment. Please tell me there is a way around this. My wife listed her used iPhone on my account with no issues. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @tiramisu41 - that seems interesting. It sounds almost like OP has 'California' in the sales tax of the listing but no specified percentage.
Hi @frenchie43 - would you mind going into your draft listings, selecting 'complete', then choose 'customize', then check 'sales tax' and choosing save. Once that's done please scroll down to Sales Tax and make sure that no state is listed there. If there is one, click the down arrow, scroll to the top and choose the blank option. That should allow you to save and publish the draft. Let us know if you run into anything else!

@frenchie43 -- Just out of curiosity, what state do you live in?
Also, can you either take a screen shot of the error message you're getting and post it, or can you type the error message out word-for-word here so we can try and figure out what's going on?
Thanks.

I live in California. I didn't even select a tax rate. I uncheked the box.
The error message is:

Do you live in WA or PA?

The error message is:
It looks like there's a problem with this listing.
- The selected tax rate is lower than the minimum allowed value, or greater than the maximum allowed value.
@frenchie43. Okay, let's try looking at what the tax table says for your account. To access it:
What does the table say/look like? Are there numbers filled in for any of the states -- especially California?

And as you undoubtedly know, the Revenue does not look kindly on those who collect sales taxes without remitting them.

Under "use sales tax table" it says "no".

@frenchie43, Okay... But to absolutely sure of what settings are on your account, please go back into "Site Preferences" as explained above and go into the sales tax table.

There is nothing in the tax table. Each square is blank, including CA.
I’m using a MacBook Air, obviously IOS. Not using the mobile app because so much typing on my phone aggravates the arthritis in my hands. My wife uses Windows, and she had some issues as well.
With that said, I called eBay, and they had the same issues on their end, trying to list my stuff for me. Hopefully they’ll have it resolved quickly!

@Anonymous - This appears to be another Sales Tax Table-related issue perhaps affecting CA sellers. Can you please look into this and let us know how to fix? Thanks.

I have been having the same issue. I live in Ohio and have never had to charge sales tax (I sell only about 2-3 items a month). My daughter lives in Ohio and is also an eBay seller and she does not get the pop up to charge sales tax on her items that she lists. I have gone to my Site Preferences and there is nothing checked on any of the states. However, when I list it automatically puts Ohio in and makes me put in the sales tax of 6.75% before it will let me list. I do not make enough money on my sales to cover my habit of yard sale purchases and do not want to have to start charging my few customers a sales tax.

He does not want to collect sales tax anyway!
Actually, it doesn't matter if he wants to or not if he is required to do so by his state's law.
Just out of curiosity, OP, were you ever registered as a business with eBay?
