Why do I have to captcha verify myself when clicking on an ebay store?

This is weird, never ran into it until today. I clicked on a random seller's store link and hit the captcha page. What's causing this? I thought you didn't even have to be logged in to view someone's store.

The most likely answer is eBay thinks you are a robot.

I'll try using a different device and probably a different account just to see.

I've have to verify on a few different pages, even to look in my own store when I'm already signed in.

I had a spell where every time I went to feedback it'd Captcha me. It seemed to go away on its own after several occurrences.

I wonder if eBay tracks how often you do certain things, and if you perform those same tasks (in my case, looking at feedback), maybe it trips their bot trap?

I constantly have  that problem for months now. I have checked „stay signed in” and they constantly kick me out asking for captacha and relogin. You are lucky it just happened to you. See technical issues section for threads on that captcha.

in my opinion this issue is because ebay thinks you are a bot. So if this is how they recognize bots , no wonder there is little views now

The captcha instances have increased lately. I've noticed it's mostly when performing the same type of actions:

- viewing policy pages

- viewing stores

- viewing feedback / profile pages

- viewing payments tabs, reporting, etc.

I understand requiring it when viewing payments or multiple policy pages. But viewing stores and feedback it's a nuisance.

I am having the same issue. Any time I click to check someone's feedback I have to verify myself. But about an hour ago eBay make me verify myself before I could buy something. I am already signed in. They charged my credit card and yet I had to verify myself.  There is something up. Could be they are under attack and not talking about it.

It was happening to me as well about 2 months ago. After a week of relogging in, it seemed to go away and have not seen since.

It happens to me occasionally, but I haven't noticed what triggers it. What I have noticed is, like the OP, it seems to happen when I'm doing something inconsequential. I can be listing all day (something that has economic consequences) with no problem, then I search for something and suddenly eBay suspects I'm a robot.

So I totally forgot about this thread and issue until now. Me being paranoid or lazy didn’t bother with following through with the captcha. It only asked me when I would try to look at any eBay store, which I actually believe you don’t even need an eBay account to view.

I got the same issue with two accounts that I tried. The system didn’t log me out. So I thought, meh, I don’t really need to look at any eBay stores right now.

It seemed to have fixed itself as now I can click on any store and not hit captcha. It probably even fixed itself by the next day, I can’t recall. Also, my eBay clicking behavior isn’t any different from what it always is. One of those weird eBay phenomenons I guess.
