How often do sellers recieve positive feedback? For every 10 items I sell, maybe a single buyer would leave positive feedback. And I sell used, but good items for cheap prices. I pack everything nicely, write a nice little note on the packing slip requesting feedback in a very nice way, I always leave feedback on the buyers first, etc.. And yet, most buyers that purchase my items ignore all of that and don't give feedback.
Is this normal? I'm a new seller btw.

Peo[le are very busy today. And they expect their items to come quickly and as described.
It is only when they do not, do you get feedback - negative ones.
If the transaction is successful in that you do not get an open case from an unhappy buyer, consider yourself lucky. And do not poke to much for feedback or you may get some that you do not like.

You may have noticed recently that everyone is constantly badgering you for feedback. You can't buy anything online without being spammed for feedback or urged to tweet/share/whatever your recent purchase. You get emails asking you to log onto some website and rate your purchase. Even buying something in a B&M shop without providing a phone number or email address is challenging. Any time you call customer support for assistance with, well, anything.. you get invited to participate in a survey.
People are starting to get sick of it. I know I am. As a seller/buyer, I realize how hard life can be when you don't get feedback, but I never nag buyers to leave feedback, because if they don't understand it, you stand to gain nothing by attempting to explain it. If you nag them too much, it becomes an invitation to find a problem where none existed.
Try to think of it as "no news is good news" and stand on the good feedback you've got.

Years ago I would get about 60 to 65% feedback. Lately it has been more like 50 to 60%.
I feel that leaving even a nicely worded note would turn off some buyers. Try leaving the note out and see if your numbers improve.
As a buyer feedback has become a PITA for me. One of the reasons I like shopping on Amazon is I do not get pestered so bad to leave feedback.
I also leave feedback first, but others don't for their own reasons.
Since feedback does not factor into a sellers performance any longer I wonder if it really worth still having. Sure you can sometimes use it to weed out a best offer bad buyer, but how often does that happen? You might be able to detect a pattern of abuse from feedback left, but in the end does it really matter? When a transaction goes south you will usually end up refunding the buyer and paying to have your broken stuff (or maybe the buyer's broken stuff) mailed back to you.

Even 50/60% feedback sounds great. I don't get anywhere close to that.

Well personally I think feedback should be done with. Lots of other sites don't even have it - they only time you get it basically is to bash the seller. My current transactions are over 30,000 yet my feedback sits at 10,000. (this is not my seller id) People are too busy - we get way too many demands on our time to perform one danged thing or another - even facebook is imploding - I do not leave feedback anymore unless the buyer leaves it for me. I never get emails from anyone requesting feedback. Everything on the internet is an invasion of my privacy - just quit it already. Ebay has a very efficient format to resolve unhappy transactions and sellers are dealt with swiftly. And since feedback is such a joke now - like a chinese seller with 3000+ negative feedbacks - I think it just makes the feedback system look stupid. And I really think it lends to the credibility (or lack thereof) of the site overall. Personally I have no clue why you would buy something from a seller who has hundreds of negatives. What's up with that?

If you get burned by a seller, it doesn't matter at all to you how satisfied his last 3000 customers were, does it?

EZR..
i tried to take a look aat you account---to see what you are selling. But I cannot find any Listings---and I cannot find any Feedback either given to you--or given by you.
So it is hard for me to figure out what is going on with you--and with your buyers. Feedback from buyers is now pretty low in ALL Categoriies of Items. But in some Cstegories--it is way lower than average---becsuse of the personalities of those who are doing the buying.
If you have no Positive Feedback at all--from anyone---then I am surprised you are getting anyone to buy from you!
OK--if you have no Feedback at all--or only a very low amount---I think you should do what you have to do---to at least get SOME Posiives on your record. Thinkof a few inexpensive things you need to buy for yourself anyway. Instead of buying those thilngs in your local stores--- Find good qualityEbay sellers---WHO DO give Positive Feedback to their buyers.
Buy those items---and then you will at least have a acceptable-looking Feedback Score.

our feedback is running at about 30% recieved. quite a bit less than when we started 5yrs. ago. we ALWAYS leave feedback & never ask for it. being that leaving feedback is 100% voluntary, no news is good news.... BEST OF LUCK!!

That's about what I see on here too.
On Amazon, I'm lucky if I get 10%

50 to 60% is probably about right I've probably sold twice as many items as my feedback score maybe more can't say for sure.

No Feedback = Good Feedback
Never, ever ask a buyer to leave feedback, you may not get the result you want.

Yes, sometimes I go through long periods without positive feedback. I've noticed leaving it first helps. Some customers get really turned off if they don't receive feedback even though they can only get positive.

ROLEN..
..Feedback doesn't mattter any more--because it does not factor into Seller Performance any more??? Well I am a Buyer ---and your Feedback certainly DOES matter to me! I cannot see your Seller Dashboard---so I do not know how Ebay is judging you---nor do I care.
What I judge you by is your Overall Feedback Score---and the number of Negs/Neuts you have received. I don't care about this Managemen'ts opinion of you (this management's priorities are very different from MY priorities..) I want to know what other buyers think of you.
And I will not buy from any Seller whose Overall Score is less than 99.6%(unless there are mitigating issues involved.):smileyindifferent:
