Why did eBay give me extended days to ship???

This is kind of funny considering the topic of the "It's not just Christmas buyers ...." thread.  -I sold 2 items today (Wednesday).  Since I have 1-day handling for TRS+ benefits, the prompt should say "Ship by Thursday Jan. 4".  But instead they both said Monday the 8th!

I had this happen a while back and it turned out that the new template I had set up had 2-day handling, and the bummer was I didn't catch it until I realized I missed out on my TRS fee discount for several items.  But I definitely fixed the template and I can see in my Payments that I did get the discount for these 2 items' fees.

Neither Thursday nor Friday are postal holidays.  So why the heck did eBay give me TWO extra business days?

And we have an answer @gurlcat . Your ship days are screwed up.

I was just discussing this page with someone yesterday (link).

By default, no days on that page are checked for any seller. Once a seller checks days, they can no longer leave all days unchecked because you'll get an error message (at least that's how it was a few months ago). So this is what you need to do:

1. UNCHECK Sunday

2. CHECK Mon-Fri

3. For Mon-Fri, on the time drop-down, select Not Offered

4. Save changes

What's happening, is the system sees that you ship on Sunday, and only Sunday. So you have 1 biz day handling time, but a week added to all estimated delivery dates.

Note the hard-to read fine print at the bottom of that page:

Select the time by which you must receive cleared payment for an order to qualify for same business day handling. Your delivery estimates depend on your selected working days, separate from same-day cut-off times. The time it takes you to dispatch is set when creating a listing.

In other words, the times are for same-day cut off. But once you check boxes you are also telling eBay which days you ship.

It's very non-intuitive.

You're not the first seller I've seen with Sunday checked off that wasn't familiar with that page. So maybe you checked it by accident? Or maybe there's some setting on eBay that's interfering and causing that box to be checked without sellers knowledge. I don't know. BUT at least I can tell you how to fix it @gurlcat .

Re: Why did eBay give me extended days to ship???

Thanks so much.  I'll fix it now.  But I'm still a little confused, because like I said I didn't know that page even existed, in fact I'll have to use your link to get back to it again and fix it.  So it definitely wasn't I who check-marked anything.   Also, the 2 sales that I started this thread about -they had only 2 extra handling (business) days, not a whole week, so then ....
......wait, never mind, I get it now.  They were both paid on Wednesday and the 'ship by' day was the following Monday, so it was just figuring I wouldn't "work" Thu or Fri.

Okay then!  Thanks again ever so much, you absolute HOSS!

Well, poo.  That's not quite working:

Then just select a time - 9 am or something. The time will not affect anything as long as you do not change handling to same day shipping @gurlcat .

Alright, done.  My listings are still showing the crazy ETA's from my buyer account view, but I'm guessing the system might take a while to recalculate.

@gurlcat @wastingtime101  interesting - I saw a recent Reddit post where a seller was trying to figure out why they suddenly received an order with a ship by date of Sunday 1/7 when they've never had to ship on a Sunday before.

Guessing it's likely their shipping cutoff times may be to blame without their knowledge too.
