"These are pottery barn drapes. They don't go with the decor of my new house." And then a frowning imoji.
No other info. And the pic is a close up of just the bottom of the curtains, draped over a chair.
I'm sure they'll be here soon accusing eBay of throttling, or wondering why their stuff doesn't sell?

Could be a number of reasons . Maybe the seller just isn't used to selling and doesn't quite know the proper way to do it. Or there might be a negative issue with the drapes they aren't willing to mention or provide photos of . Do they offer 30 day free returns ? Tulips

I agree.
If they are not showing you the drapes from all angle, then there is a problem.
I just bought a ton of furniture, rugs from Pottery Barn.
Their quality control is awful and they make you wait 3 weeks for a furniture medic to come take a look.
I got a sectional where they did not put it together because they did not have the proper tool, and a white headboard full of blue marks from the packaging as well as a bureau with black marks.
And half the delivery was missing.
Would never shop there again.
I bet the drapes have a problem as well.

Not everyone is cut out for ebay.
Some sellers think that this place is a magic money machine and you don't have to put any effort in.
I certainly do wish for those days back.

If you've ever sold or bought on Mercari, that's what the majority of their listings are like - a couple of really bad pictures and no descriptions. Stuff sells like crazy over there, too, and they only have a THREE DAY window for the buyer to make a claim.
I cannot for the life of me figure it out.

Or perhaps those of us who post here are the rare exceptions who actually do bother to read descriptions; and many sellers are giving up on expending the effort of making their listings stand out by writing them properly, and pushing quantity over quality; more listings vs fewer but better written ones.
Just trying to look at this from another perspective is all. 🙂

Checking them out now (at least their Wikipedia entry). Perhaps this will be the next one I try in my efforts to have at least one other up and coming venue in place in addition to the three Es. 🙂

I've been listing there for a couple or three years now. What I sell doesn't do very well lol but I've had some sales and all have went fine, 36 in the last two and a half or so years. Nothing to break the bank, but better than Bonanza lol (big fat goose egg there)
My daughter (she's 19) sells her clothes there, and they do very well.
Seems to be a young (teenage and early 20s) buyer base, at least from what I can tell.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother taking so much time to write a decent description. I will see another listing for the same item with nothing described and it sells. Never have been able to figure that one out, especially if my price is the same or less.

I think that occasionally too; but most of the time, I uphold the words of (either the Greek Philosopher Epicurus or the Apostle Paul; not sure which yet).
"In all of your undertakings, mine bretheren; settle not for a halfarsed job. Instead, one should always endeavour to use both cheeks."

I think newer sellers have the idea that success on ebay is based on how many listings you have.... I have a friend who couldn't wait to get 4000 items up and now is hell bent on 5000. I keep my listings to around 20 and I am happy. They do not understand the concept of sell through rate and how that is what is most relevant as a seller. So in an effort to get lots of listings they leave out a description and everything is listed under Everything Else OTHER.

I find the M site much easier to search, that could be one reason buyers are there? I have a few searches saved on the app, and I get a little dot when something new is posted - can see all the listings, not just new, simple sort by newest is the default, the phone shows just tiled photos(one per listing) and the price, and the word "sold" if unavailable. No ads, no titles, no descriptions, very clean and simple. Easy to click on picture to get the info.
Seems like what mostly sells there is the cheaper stuff, altho I have seen some collectible items go for decent money.

Speak for yourself..... I've been wanting a set of blind purchase surprise chair drapes......
There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.

Ebay is complicit in and actually preys on new sellers coming to ebay and thinking this, with their "selling is easy as 1-2-3", or the latest one on the top of every page, "Easier selling. Awesome cash."

Well, as someone who has sold custom draperies for 30 years, I can tell you that the bottom of the curtains is most likely where the dog lifted his leg, the cat sharpened her claws, the housekeeper sucked the fabric into the vacuum cleaner, the toddler has wiped his sticky pb&j fingers or the broken pipe has spewed water.
