Why arnt my items selling?

I have had dificulty selling my clothing items on ebay lately and I dont know what is really happening. I have done auction style listings at reasonable prices and just tried buy it now with best offer and the listings are for 30 days and no one has made an offer since I stared on thanksgiving. I have a 93% feedback rating due to some garbage claims that some items i sold are fake but they are not. I have listed new and authentic Polo Ralph Lauren clothing with tags and everyting and some of these items are not made anymore but no one is watching them like i see other items. I wa wondering if I could get help to see what I am doing wron since I tried ebay tips and I feel like they are not working. I was selling pretty good during the summer but since the holidays are coming, I would like to sell some items like I was earlier.

If your listing is titled "Brand New With Box 2003 Air Jordan Retro", one assumes they are going to be genuine.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

Buyers look at your low fb rating and the two negatives you received. They will then turn away and look elsewhere.

I would agree that the feedback score warrants a closer look then to see claims for items being fake.  Not a good combination no matter what catagory or time of year it is.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

Buyers rarely look at feedback anymore, they know that ebay's got their back jack.

OP you are a newer seller selling in a bloated hard to get sales category.  We have seen this story before - it happens almost as much as a new seller listing a cell phone getting a scammy buyer.

New seller lists their items and sell most of them, then sales sink like a stone and the newbie desperately tries to fix it like it was before.

Truth of the matter is that there will be no fixing it.  unless you are selling quick flip and high demand/high scam designer items, your sell through will remain at around 10%.

It has happened so often that it appears that ebay boost new sellers to get as much in fees and extras out of them as possible.  Then at around the average time newbies either give up or invest in a store, ebay pushes a button and sales fall to the average norm.

But you can do things to help yourself.  You are so wrapped up in impressing the buyer with your cool new with tags items that you forget the basics - like you have a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt listed - but forgot the word shirt in the title.  You have a bomber jacket listed in the title, and in the item specifics you say it is a biker jacket - and both of them are considered leather garments by the majority of users, you might want to find a different name to call it.

And this is ebay, where they are guaranteeing that the buyer can find the lowest prices on the internet in their ads- so only 30% off the price when it was new for off season and last years fashion items is not the way to get them sold on ebay.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

Even worse than the feedback rating and the wording of the negs is your response to one of the negs claiming "Sold me fake jordans."

"Buyer bought item as described in the listing, never said they were real or not"

Seriously?  Do you realize that selling counterfeit merchandise is more than just bad business, it is illegal.  Your response seems to be admitting they are fake.  Seems kind of obvious that sales might drop off after that one.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

That response does seem to be an admission that they are not authentic.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

I don't know that clothing warrants an auction type listing.

30 day listings get lower and lower visibility over time.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

I don't know for sure why  your items aren't selling, but the low feedback score, coupled with the authenticity response by you, and selling in a bloated category, are probably all contributors to your present problem.

OP, If you are selling anything that is fake, most will ignore all your listings. Your response to the feedback sure looks like " I never claimed they were real in the listing" and that you knew they were fake. That is the single biggest turnoff imaginable.

I frequent several flea markets in the summer. There are 3 dealers I see at different markets that knowingly sell fakes that are purposely designed to deceive. They will even mix them in with authentic items. I completely ignore ALL their items and always will. It disgusts me to even see their faces. I don't have the time of day for them and if I were running the flea market they would be shown the door.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

You should just start over with a new id because your current one you have turned into GARBAGE by selling fakes and you admited to it in the follow up feedback.

Likely the best advice the OP will get. Don't know how good it will be for everyone else, but good for the OP.

Re: Why arnt my items selling?

I always look at feedback before I buy. Sure Ebay has the buyers back but who needs the hassle of buying from a bad seller? Maybe a seller with good feedback (high) will still scam me but the odds are better.

Do you have any point of referance for that statement?
