Why am I getting charged a insertion fee?

I started a basic store subscription,  and since then, now everytime I start a auction, I'm being charged a 25 cent insertion fee, when before I was able to do it for free. I haven't used up my listings that are included.

Are you listing auctions?  They are only 'free' in a store in specific categories.

I think it does have something to do with the store catagory. It's marked as other for some reason. Is there a way to change to that? The regular category is the one I always use, so it can't be that.

After reading that, I think I shot myself in the foot for signing up for a store. What I list in the auctions are usually business & industrial, but then again, maybe the % of selling fees will even it out. I'm not sure. It's just weird that before I was listing in that same category for free without a store, and now I'm being charged.

Yep, just figured that out...supposedly the % of the final value fee is lower though, so hopefully it will even out. I guess I should've pay attention when signing up. The categories that are free, aren't ones I ever use.

I don't know how many listings you get in a basic store.  I don't have a store but I do have 2 seller accounts. So I can list 500 items free on both accounts. If I start selling on this one, it says I get 200 free listings on this one, not 250.

So maybe you are better off with NO stores but 2 selling accounts. It's perfectly legal. You will need a 2nd email address.    Both of my accounts are linked to Managed payments using the same bank account.  Both are linked to the same PAYPAL account to pay for the shipping labels.  It's perfectly legal.  The only thing that you can't do is bid on your own items or have 2 identical items listed at the same time in each account.

Many, many years ago, a Store subscription got ONLY free fixed price listings and no free auction-format insertions.  Then eBay added free auction insertions in selected categories, first in "fashion" and then later in "collectibles" (or maybe vice-versa).  But store subscribers still don't get free auction-format insertions in the other categories.

If you signed up for a month-to-month subscription (rather than an annual commitment, for a discounted monthly rate) you can drop the subscription at any time with no penalty fee.  However, the minimum commitment is one full calendar month plus the balance of the month in which you signed up (pro-rated).

Why am I getting charged a insertion fee?

I did annual. I'm waiting for a current auction to end to see what the actual % in the final value fee is. I spoke through chat with ebay and they said with the category its in now, that the % should be much aless then what I have been spending.  If that the case, it's worth having to pay 25 cent per auction. Besides, with the current % I'm having to pay, compared to what I was paying, it's already paid for itself so far. Luckly, I'm a registered LLC, so the subscription is a write off. I was just kind of confused that without a store it was totally free, just the final value fee were higher.

You don't have to wait. You can just look it up:

This is off topic but it might be a good idea to mention in your title when an item is 'for parts only or not working'.  We see a lot of posts about buyers opening not as described returns because they didn't read the description or notice the stated condition.

We list the breakers in parts only/ not working because they haven't been tested and confirmed to work, but you do have a very valid point. Alot of the breakers be get in look to be in new condition and some looked to have been installed at one point,  but we auction them off so we don't have to take the time to test and verify each individual package. The majority of my buyers are usually resellers themselves that have a way to test, repair and resell.  So I never thought it could be a an issue with someone doing an item not described due to the retail value on the lots we post, because if for instance they did try to file a claim then it would essentially cut off thier supply on getting in more later. I suppose there is always a chance some random might come along and get excited a bid think they are getting 100% working breakers.

Why am I getting charged a insertion fee?

Yea, I was just wait to see if the 3% was the actual fee I was going to be charged, which is what the CS rep said it would be, but of course  it wasn't.  Lol oh well. It was 12.35% with 30 cent. So, it's about the same cost as it was before I did the store subscription. It would've been awesome to get the 3%.
