Why I'm thinking of leaving eBay altogether

Received an utterly false and slanderous feedback by a buyer today. I called ebay, they agreed that its false and whatever the buyer is blaming me for is totally false, but since its an 'opinion based' platform the feedback will stay even though its totally and categorically false and is a total lie.

I wonder one thing, did ebay lost its mind?

Probably did.

Why should they create a platform were scammers, crooks and nonpaying buyers can leave a totally false and slanderous feedback to the seller and get away with it just because its not breaking the policy of profanity?

WOW,

What a bunch of dimwits ebay has become...

Would anyone really spend all that time and money to go to court to have feedback removed from ebay?

Seems like a waste of time and money when few people even view it seriously anymore.

How I read feedback

A buyer's feedback is opinion and may not have any bearing on your transaction.

A seller's feedback is fact and that is EXACTLY who you will have to deal with if anything goes wrong.

Yes, that is so true. Also, they dont want to burn a source of future collectibles they may be looking for. They actually need you, a lot of that stuff they will HAVE to get from the few people who have what they are looking for, so they want to be on your good side or they know you will never sell to them again. Old collectibles dont grow on trees, when what you're looking for comes along, you have to buy it from whoever has it or it could be years before you see one again.

I think you have to weigh the costs and benefits. If you have made thousands of dollars and quit because Ebay allows someone to scam for $20 then that would be unreasonable. We all have some level of shrinkage and everyone needs to decide for themselves what level is reasonable.

LOL, I think it may be safe to say that everybody would like to experience as little 'shrinkage' as possible in every situation. 🙂

Absolutely.  That definitely drives civility.

TIMEOF..

I do not think  you   should even  consider leaving Ebay!   Smiley SurprisedThis is only one  Negative.  It barely makes  a  dent in  your Overall  Feedback Score---and will  probably  become unnoticeable----as  soon  as you sell  a  few more items.

HOWEVER,  as another poster said---it   was  not  a  great  idea   to  have made such an angry reponse  in  your  Feedback comment.   This  will   just  makes  others  notice  that Neg  right  away.  Smiley Frustrated

Yes, as I said before, that reply probably was not the greatest ever, but that's how I felt, and even though it wasn't that good, it made me feel good that I was finally able to really speak out about how I feel about the unfairness and injustice that goes on in ebay.
When these people make billions of dollars, they don't care about their sellers, unless if a large percentage will threaten them that they'll leave if things don't get better for sellers in here, and future signing sellers will demand that too before signing up. I know that's a bit of a stretch, it may never happen, as the sellers on ebay are not a group like in a union, many times the sellers themselves are hostile to each other because they view each other as competition. But, if there was some kind of an organized representation for Ebay Sellers that come together and demand from ebay that certain standards must be maintained if it wants sellers to use ebay as as a selling medium, and if ebay will see that hundreds of thousands of sellers are organized, and speak in one voice, then and only then it may change to skew the regulations to be more seller friendly.
Ebay thrives on the disorganization and separateness that exists between sellers, and it nurtures that and builds on that. As a result, every seller on ebay is expendable, and if a seller is not happy with ebay regulations, there is always another seller waiting on line to join. So what is needed is organization and representation. Sellers should get together unite and demand to be appreciated, respected and treated with dignity and be given equal treatment when it comes to feedback and other regulations.

When a buyer joins ebay there should be clear and obvious demands from them:

1. Feedback should reflect reality, no lying is permitted under any circumstances. A lying slanderous unfitting feedback will result in instant suspension for a 6 months. After 6 months, if they do it again, then kick them out for a year, third time their out for good.

2. Sellers should be given a chance to leave a feedback to the buyers as well, same regulations on sellers as well, be truthful, should reflect reality, and not be slanderous. This arrangement creates a certain restraint for buyers and sellers that they are in fact dealing with other human beings, and they cant slander them and ruin their reputation by leaving false feedback that doesn't reflect reality. This will create a good selling and buying experience instead as the Zoo that is now.

3. Non paying buyers/bidders should be escorted to the door and kicked out without any questions asked, unless there is a valid excuse that they can provide and that was beyond their control. Waste-of-time bidders who bid and not pay need to be treated as thieves, because time costs money, and if you waste the sellers' time and other bidder's time, those who really genuinely wanted to purchase the item, that time costs money, and if you bid and you don't pay you're a sort of a thief that needs to see the door. A nice 6 month vacation from buying, after then if done again, a year, and then if done again, permanent ban. That's the only way to keep ebay clean instead of the barbarity that is going on in here where bidders are pretty much able to do as they wish, including leaving slanderous feedback to sellers even though they wasted the seller's time and never paid.

I'm sure there can be other items added to the list of the 3 above, but in general these 3 items/demands should cleanse ebay.

If you don’t want non-paying bidders sell fixed price with immediate payment required. I think it’s a terrible idea to suspend buyers for a single nonpayment. They ma6 go on to pay hundreds of other sellers. You can block anyone with more than one nopay in the last year.

i expect you’ve never changed your mind and returned something to the store?

Actually you don’t have to sue eBay. There’s a 3rd party website/service that specializes in feedback removal. Don’t know if it can be named here. I don’t know what it costs. I believe they work as an abitrator and they bring both parties together & hear sides and then made a decision. A few irate members have come here after this service had their feedback removed.this service is authorized by eBay and works with them.

I'm a little confused. Was this buyer wanting to return an item?

I am confused also, and it doesn't look nearly as cut and dry ans the OP would like it to be.

I'm wondering if the OP was polite to the buyer or if the type of comments that they replied with to not only this feedback, but others was the norm?

Polite?

Buyer sent 16 mesages, I replied to all in the most polite way possible, no resolution was agreeble to the buyer, always looked for excuses, never satisfied, whining and complaning, made me buy 3 different shipping labels, one of the worst buyers that I had to deal with.

Are you still confused?
