Why Bother With Promoted Listings?

I recently got this email from ebay and if there is ever an argument NOT to promote listings it is this. I'm assuming it's from my "send offers" because I really don't promote listings other than that. My ROI will buy me one tank of gas. What a joke. Make sure that if you do promote listings that it makes it worthwhile for you.

Why Bother With Promoted Listings?

Do you look at anything else after finding the lowest price, like feedback?

Why Bother With Promoted Listings?

Absolutely!   Both buying and selling.
If researching prices.... I look at the item, how it's listed, description, photo's, feedback.   I'm looking for any reason I can find to price my item higher than theirs.

Why Bother With Promoted Listings?

@gloryglorygifts  here's something I used to do, and should do again.
I'd include an added link in my listings.  At the bottom of the DESCRIPTION, I'd include:  "HEY! Click here and check out my items, I've got lots more stuff like this!" (and this link).
Which was the same as somebody clicking on "view sellers other items".
That would be in every listing.
I would then list several high dollar items.  Marked UP 50%, making them really high dollar.  And then promote them 25%.
The view count on those items would be silly high.   I assumed it was mostly from shoppers that just wanted to see why I thought my item was worth more than the world.
But once they got there, that link in the description turned them into customers of other items.
Many buyers do not their way around eBay like we do and don't navigate like professionals.  They need guidance.  Guidance in MY direction....And that's what I tried to do.
WITH the added bonus of.  Some will not buy the cheapest simply because it's the cheapest.  They relate price to quality.  AND, there are some that take that to a whole new level, and buy the most expensive.
So, every now and then, that super high price item?  In the bank. YEA!!!

That's great advice, thanks! I do add check out my other items in every listing description but do not put a link. That's a bit of brilliance right there and so easy to do.
