On March 4, I had 5 sales. Since that day, I have not even had 5 sales in an entire week! The flea market was very slow on Sunday & I did not do very well yet, I still managed to have about 15 sales. It is NOT higher gas prices causing this. It is not higher food prices. It is definitely NOT my fault! 3 corporations are at fault for this dismal attempt to make sales here now. eBay, USPS & Canada Post. Idiotic policy changes & nonsensical changes to the site plus inflated postal rates is disrupting everything. Good luck to us all. 🙂

Why are you even still here, then?

I get your drift and agree with it. Placing blame or finding excuses for a lack of business is lazy and useless.
But looking for and then trying to understand reasons, causes, explanations, whatever-term-you like is productive.
So, yes, inflation, pandemics, the general economy, changes in government policies, events in the international landscape, and even the weather, do have their affects -- and it's up to a seller to figure what the effects are and how to counter them and/or use them to his his own benefit.
I guess I'm just earning my crown as Ms Obvious of 2022, but I felt like making the distinction.

Most sellers don't want to look for and then try "to understand reasons, causes, explanations,"...
they just want to blame whatever the current environmental crisis, political situation or whatever is closest at hand...EXCEPT the fact that it is more often than not, related to the product//items they are selling due to supply & demand, buyer habits, trends come and go...buyer habits change...what was selling good yesterday just may not be in demand today...buying/selling is cyclical just like everything else in the world...

a month ago I was shipping fifteen packages a day. Now, I'm lucky to have four or five.
Who am I blaming? No one. Sales have always been in cycles. Today is busy, tomorrow is slow, it will come back.
And no, I do not miss knowing I have twenty-six items to get packaged up over the week-end so i can keep my one day handling time. Ship when you have shipping, list when you don't. It all evens out.

**~ MOST COMPASSIONATE SELLER ON EBAY~**

I had been selling low cost collectibles and some jewelry.
There are likely many reasons sales go up & down. The unfortunate thing on eBay is that you have very little information. Many facts that would be relevant and could increase sales are not shared by eBay.
In my opinion, the fee added on constantly rising postal costs, along with those costs is having a tremendous impact. I think many small sellers have quit.
A lot of my eBay sales went towards eBay purchases. For me that’s stopped.
I spoke to a woman running a store who had been in business for decades. Business had fallen off & she said, “every dog has its day”. I’ll never forget that.
Trends change. Sometimes a situation or business is just over. I think ebays focus is no longer on small sellers. It’s on a downward slide. I don’t see eBay doing much to stop it.

As soon as I read the opening post, I know who wrote it before even looking. Some things are just that predictable.
