Where the blame falls.

On March 4, I had 5 sales.  Since that day, I have not even had 5 sales in an entire week!  The flea market was very slow on Sunday & I did not do very well yet, I still managed to have about 15 sales.  It is NOT higher gas prices causing this.  It is not higher food prices.  It is definitely NOT my fault!  3 corporations are at fault for this dismal attempt to make sales here now.  eBay, USPS & Canada Post.   Idiotic policy changes & nonsensical changes to the site plus inflated postal rates is disrupting everything.  Good luck to us all.    🙂

Considering I can send a first-class letter from Key West FL to Hawaii or Alaska for under 60cents I doubt the USPS is the issue. The USPS was never meant to handle large packages.

I don't know about that .Since potential  buyers are paying a lot more money  for the basics   it stands to reason why they aren't shopping on line as much . As gasoline prices soar beyond belief   the effects  are  snowballing  .

Oh look, another slow sales post.

Things are going to get worse before they get better - and with everything going on you seriously have to wonder if they ever will get better again.

@sakic92710

Is your flea market only open on Sundays? You still do pretty good there, 15 sales is pretty good if it was slow.

I had a bunch of mid century circa 1955 fishing reels with original boxes, graphics were great, they didn't last 2 weeks. They were salt water reels and not alot of deep sea fishing here in the desert! You never know what people will buy.

Yes - only on Sundays.  Before this weekend, I had 7 excellent weeks in a row.  Gas & food prices were not stopping people from spending but, it does on eBay?  I don't think people who are affected by those higher prices are shopping online anyway.  They were already struggling to get by.  Glad you did well.  I was selling sports cards like crazy; among an assortment.   🙂

It's all about the product/item: uniqueness, quality, price points, supply and demand, target market..

over the decades of selling(both offline and online), sellers have been blaming anything and everything for slow/no sales...

blame has been placed on blizzards, hurricanes, wildfires, floods,USPS,Canada Post, the economy,an election, government policies, and the list goes on....

it seems sellers never blame the fact that just maybe no one is interested in their items/products on any given day,week,month...

trends come and go, buyer habits change and so goes the circle of buying and selling...

IDK what the actual reasons for slower sales.  I am down slightly on ETSY and E Bay.

If I am honest with myself a lot is probably my fault as I have NOT been listing the way I used to, as far as new listings daily.  I have at least 200 big boxes I still need to sort price etc.  Have not even sourced new stuff since 8/21.

Higher prices, gas, food IMO DOES have an effect on sales.  I eat a lot of yogurt, used to be $1.97 per container.  Yesterday it was 2.17.  DOG treats $35.00 per 32 ounce bag.  With 2 dogs that does not go far. Merrick canned dog food used to me $1.83 per can.  Just paid $3.10 last week per can.

We are financially secure thanks to my hubby saving like crazy.  We are still being a bit more frugal.  So I can only deduce that a lot of peeps are indeed really feeling the hurt with inflation.

There are so many reasons for sales to be hurting.  First I would look at what I CAN change on my end.  After that all we can do is keep getting on with things and try not to stress too much.  Been in retail since 1992.  Th only constant in all those years is that there is NO one factor that makes sales go up/down/flat.

Best of luck to everyone!!

This quest stands on the edge of a blade...stray but a little and you shall fail to the ruin of us all.

Buddy!  How's it going?  Your weekly post about how sales are slow and it's not your fault?

Hang in there, buddy.  Hopefully things will pick up.

Why does it have to be someone's fault?  Sometimes it is slow,

I want to be honest, I dont know, but right now I am puting all my extra change, ebay spending money, into bowling games and the gas to get there, and I am just not wanting to buy anything else, right now, later, maybe a wrist strap I will break down and order one from eBay, but will I get the perfect one? Probally, after returning a couple and then finally getting the righty one six weeks later/ No, I would much rather pay five times the amount to get the right one today at the pro shop. Now you see the twisted mind of the average buyer on eBay and WHAT you really need to do is to find something that sells on eBay then get some and start selling it. I hope this helps to give you insight, never mind the hindsight.

Uh, apart from your inconceivable failure to acknowledge the role of inflation and higher prices you also seem to forget that taxes are due by next Monday.

What % of buyers do you think there are on eBay who only have a few extra dollars a week & actually use that money to make purchases on this site?  Not nearly enough to affect the drastic drop in sales.  A slow week used to be 8-10 sales.  Now it is 2-3.

oh I guess I forgot to add income tax time to the ever growing list of excuses that sellers use for low/sales/no sales along with the yearly increases in the cost of living, cost of goods, yada yada yada, blah, blah, blah

more excuses?

keep'em coming...
