Where's the spark of spring?

The flower's are blooming, the birdies are tweeting, squirrels are busy...bee's are starting to buzz...but it still feels like winter wonderland cold, dury skies of winter...nothing seem's to be exciting here...

Quick, while I can......

Been a pleasure interacting with you.  Though I don't "know" you, you have brought to this dreary board wit, dry humor, a sense of reality those in charge could really take a lesson from, and, most importantly, class!!

See you on the 29th.....................of Feb?

No running water... other than the holes in the roof.

There is a pond about 100 yards away.

We live in the woods, all kinds of critters here.

This is a bumper year for the toads, the yard is covered with them.

For years we had a frog who lived under the bath room tub.

We also have albino cave crickets, they must be good, the cat eats them.

Mamma coon moved her babys out of my shed.

But I have a bad feeling that a snake may have moved in.

My wife is a bit odd, one day she brought home a box turtle she found in the road.

We had "Sam" for 6 mo. best pet we ever had, never made a sound.

The day we released him to the field,

I start singing "Born Free" at the top of my lungs.

people do look at us like we are odd.

Are you a hilly billy David?  Nature seems to be all around you...any crikets?

You guys have it easy. The 1st week of Apr and I still had over a foot snow in my yard at the lowest level.  Also, if the OP wants to know what happened to the spark of spring. eBay snuffed it out.

Yes you have it worse...should be counting my blessings...truth is I'm crying all the way to the bank...no sale's to speak of here in my seller hub...:(

Even our state bird is the mosquito. Every year sales on eBay seem to dry up some more for the sellers. Instead of growing businesses, I hear more about shrinking businesses. If it's not this, it's that, when it comes to the active listing functioning the way it's suppose too.

Re: Where's the spark of spring?

Hi Time,

It's hard enough for us with being quite central to millions of folks within a 7 hour drive...being in Maine (where I grew up as a kid) your cost of shipping for anything other than first class can be a real challenge.

Shipping has had as much to do with the decrease in sales as anything...unless your listing are simply not being seen...then shipping is a mute point.

Re: Where's the spark of spring?

I think shipping is somewhat mute. I use flat rate shipping instead of that flawed calculator  that ends up costing me extra out of pocket. The interesting thing is that most of my sales go to CA and TX, and the west and south coast. Also it's always my heaviest items, like cast iron.

Anything that goes as far west as OH, and as far south as VA are automatically priority. I don't even have the option to ship standard unless its light enough for 1st class. So, my cost is still the same, but the service gets up'd by the PO.

I do think that the Post office is killing off some online sales though. I have to pay a lot of attention on whether or not someone will likely buy an item if it costs more to ship the item vs the actual value of the item. Nobody really wants to pay 15.00 in shipping for an item worth, lets say 10 bucks. Mostly if the item can be pick up easy at a local dealer.

BTW...Most people get that there's no such thing as "Free Shipping", and that the cost is just added to the overall price you pay. Only China has free shipping, and that's because we pick up the tab via income tax and higher postal fees every six months or so.

We're trying to keep your topic on selling so that the mods don't send your thread into the abyss.

Re: Where's the spark of spring?

Kohls parking lots are packed here, so are the malls. So location is still important. Stores are offering curbside pick up for half price. The competition is strong. On and offline.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

I hear crickets...and chickens and kitties...and ducks...oh yeh no ducks anymore. Someone drove buy back in April and asked if we could get him any ducks like ours...Before Mrs C could even answer I said "Take Them"

We live along a heavily traveled state route her and right at the top end of our yard there is a crossing sign for Hunkadora Rd. (need more proof we live in the backwoods?)  Well almost every morning them 4 bad ducks would half run up to the yellow sign indicating the coming road crossing and they would use it as if it was a cross walk...I kid you not...wish I could upload a picture we have...but it is in video.

The fellow actually had witnessed this and he said they even blocked traffic both ways at times...not good. He came back at dusk...they now have a huge pond to practice crossing on...on yeh back to the crickets...some in my ebay boxes down stairs...need some...place an order and I will ship them for FREE!
