You see the title. Simple question. Q: Where is it? A: Not there!
Discussion only please - not a name and shame witch hunt.
Why or why not have such a Topic, pinned on these boards, latest post at top not bottom of the pages. Or - New Board category - Scam Watch
Such would serve to warn buyers and sellers... and eBay of the latest scams going around.
Lets face it, some are old scams and some are new innovations... and it's not all 'happy puppies playing in the sun' .. is it.
Whats bad for sellers here is bad for buyers and so, bad for sellers... the honest ones that is.
Whats your thoughts on this?

A very small percentage of new eBay users would ever see these message boards.
That's true but hopefully raised awareness would benefit those new sellers sooner rather than later. So that those seeking to read for nefarious purposes were, as they say, foiled again!

I don’t know why and can’t remember exactly when, but that’s just the first search that showed in google ^^^
Yes! Trust and Safety Safe Harbor!

Your also asuming that ebay T&S staff wouldn't be allerted or provide timely advice to new scams and flaws in new policies.
You're kidding, right? Similar to the way eBay offers accurate, timely, and useful guidance and suggestions to sellers now?
Finally, hazard a guess how many discover these boards as a result of trying to go through the ebay help pages? There is a link to here when you get the automated 'can't help you' page.
I'd be very surprised if more than a few thousand people visit here each day, and I really think that's a high estimate. Double that number. Triple it. Multiply by 100 or 1000. Try to convince me that a million users see this message board daily.
There's a published chart showing that from 2011 to 2015 unique daily visitors to eBay varied between 61 and 89 million. I think a few people may not see the very up-to-date, specific, and useful information about the very latest scams posted on this message board by eBay.
(It also appears that from April 2013 to April 2015 daily visitors declined by one-third (!) but that's a different subject and problem.)

Why? It would not be to ebay's benefit to have or support one. Nor anyone else's - selling site.
Because, among many, already listed reasons, ebay want's an upbeat site that shines and glitters, with lots of stuff that is popular, for lots of people to buy. Lots of blogs with helpful hints and lots of people saying good things about ebay (thus FB). Sort of the things that ALL sites would like to have.
When will there be one? Hard to tell, but, unless you look real good in blue, don't hold your breath.
(personal opinion - your mileage may vary)
Yes, I would imagine Ebay is not eager for there to be a centralized location specifically for scams, as what would that say about the site?

This is where restoring the Trust & Safety board would help file the threads currently scattered across virtually every discussion board and group here.
The T&S board was my goto board for many years. There were still discussions of scams on all the other boards, and while I feel a certain nostalgia for T&S, I don't recall much happening there that isn't still being done on the current boards.

Yes, a lot of the posts do come from new sellers or new buyers who seem to not know that these types of things can happen. It's not to discourage people from buying or selling here at all. Most of the scams involve the transaction done outside of Ebay. Some involve using the postal service is some way to do one. The INR when a new buyer does not use a tracking number, the one where people try to say that their package was delivered somewhere else, the one where the seller Does send something somewhere else, where you need the postmaster to give the intranet tracking to show where the parcel was actually delivered. Being forewarned is a good thing, and encourages people to do business safely here.

So five years ago. I thought it was longer ago than that, though. Time flies.

They already have a place to give the heads up on scams. It's at the bottom of the pages under security. They clearly discuss ways people can be scammed by doing transactions off Ebay, watch out for phishing attempts and suspicious emails and to report these when they happen. It does not go into any of the other types of postal type scams, or what to do when a buyer does a switcheroo, or empty box, or when a seller does the same thing. But it does alert people to watch out.

That resonated with me~~to do business safely here. I, like many others, have felt for the OPs who come here after the package is delivered, after they sent off an item that wasn't paid for, after anyone can help them. And they say they will never use Ebay again. We've all seen these threads. It's frustrating to know we can't do anything to help them, and it's sad to see they have suffered a significant monetary loss.
So there is a loss of both a buyer and a seller, with a bad experience, and possibly a large financial loss to boot, who feels betrayed, and let down by Ebay, and who has the potential to tell everyone he knows how he was scammed by Ebay. Those people may tell more people, and thus the one diaster grows to a ripple effect of epic proportions, leaving much damage in its' wake.
You can flip the scenario and the same thing would happen. Buyer gets scammed, feels betrayed and let down, may be outside the dispute deadline, doesn't know to go to Paypal or their cc, and they say they will never use ebay again, and they tell everyone they know, and so.

How did they rationalise this action?
I don't think they did. It simply went away during a change in the Boards.
They used to have a Suggestion Box, too. That is gone, also.
So, maybe there was no forewarning of a pending 'improvement' (TM) and discussion about that by users. No 'excuses' [rationalisation].
Looking at that old thread Board it seems to be just cut off mid discussion of issues. Bit rude.
