Where can a person get a suggestion through to ebay?

I don't know where else to post this suggestion, so I'll put it here.

I sell a lot of products that are the same, so I have multiples in each listing. Some of these listings can say 100+ sold with 100% positive feedback. I this makes a huge difference when people are shopping, to see that so many have been sold with such good feedback.

Unfortunately, sometimes my stocks get depleted to the point that I have to end the listing before the restock arrives. This results in starting over and relisting from zero sold, now I've lost that competitive edge of a long running reputation for selling a lot of this product.

There should be a way to "suspend" a listing for an indefinite time. This way I can get restocked and get back to selling with my huge advantage of so many previous sales of this item.

Thanks.

Good news!  That option already exists.  It's called "Out of stock' . When you activate this in your site preferences, any listing with an available quantity of zero will be hidden from other members, but will remain as an active listing that you alone can see.  It will show up again when you get stock again and revise the quantity. Its the same, continuous listing with the growing number of "Sold" items showing.

Re: Where can a person get a suggestion through to ebay?

Thanks for the info, I changed the setting to "listing stays active....", but how do I reset the quantity? I just checked an item I sold today that was the last one, it looks like my only option is to relist it, I don't see anything about adding more quantity. Thanks.

It sounds like OOS was not activated for that listing.

@memorylanetelephones @I have seen threads posted concerning items being OOS too long and they don't re-index correctly.  So the moral is, if you leave something OOS for an extended period and you add quantity,  make sure it re-indexes and shows up in search.

If the Out Of Stock option is turned on, you just edit the listing and update the quantity.

Have a great day.

Re: Where can a person get a suggestion through to ebay?

Thanks, but the in particular I'm looking at was purchased yesterday, the last one in stock. I look at the now closed listing and all I see is the option of relist or sell similar.

Does the listing have to be created after the OOS option is selected? If that's the case, I'll have to start over listing everything.

Thanks!

Re: Where can a person get a suggestion through to ebay?

Another perk of that OOS setting/use is that, as it keeps the same #, it helps with external site searches.

As it has that same #, when someone sees it in search, such as on google, it does not go to a "ended " listing.

Just keep in mind that it is an all, or none setting. It will apply to all listings, so they will renew monthly with "0" stock even if they are one-offs that you will not replenish.

It says:

When you set up the out-of-stock option, the following will happen:

  • All of your existing and future bulk listings use the out-of-stock option until you disable it
  • When the quantity of the listing becomes 0 (either because all the items were sold, or you adjusted the quantity), your listing stays active but hidden from search results
  • The listing will reappear in search results when you increase the quantity of items available
  • You can still end your Good 'Til Canceled listing yourself at any time

Okay, a listing that was just purchased, and was the last one is available to be revises, so I updated the quantity. It looks like the option will be there on existing listings, not ones that ended before I switched on the OOS.

Thanks for all the help, you're a great bunch!

Once a listing ends, any sales history will not carry forward if the item is relisted - it will all reset to zero. It is not possible to relist with the sales history intact.

If you want to keep the sales history you have to use the out of stock feature. To set that up go here: https://www.ebay.com/uas/selling-pref Next to "Multi-quantity listings" you will need to click the slider ON. This keeps the listing live when you run out of stock, but it will be hidden from buyer view. When you add more quantity the listing would become visible to buyers again. Please be aware that this is an all or nothing setting. If you turn it on, ALL of your listings will be affected.

If the OOS option was properly applied to the listing it will be in your ACTIVE listings.

https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/active   Find the item you want to add quantity to. Hover over available quantity and you'll see a little pencil. Click that, add your new quantity and save.  This will reactivate the listing so buyers can see it.  With OOS properly applied, the listing is technically active even with zero quantity, but it is hidden from buyer's view.

Correct. The listing has to be active 🙂
