When to end Christmas listings?

I have been trying to find the answer to this for 2 days.  When do most sellers end their Christmas listings and save them to relist in October of next year?

I have items like gift bags, stockings, Christmas dog collar.  I am wondering if I leave up the dog collar but end everything else? My niche is selling breed Specific items and non breed specific dog items. (Mostly sell Boston terrier and French Bulldog products).

I hope my question wasn’t confusing.

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I keep my Christmas items listed all year long as long as it doesn't invade my regular monthly listing allotment (which is rarely does).  I don't have a ton of Christmas, but it sells in non-Christmassy months quite often.

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I am just letting the listings roll off and not relisting them.   I'm boxing them up and putting them in storage until about October.

I stopped creating new listings for Christmas about 2 weeks before Christmas.

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I don't sell seasonal items, but I suppose this is one way of looking at it: When do brick-and-mortar retailers pull their Christmas items? Would you prefer to clear at least some of them out by marking them down for a while — a post-Christmas sale?

Of course we pull Christmas items at the B&M about now.  We take down the decorations too.  eBay is a different animal.  Buyers will only see my Christmas items if they actually peruse my store or if they search "Christmas."  They aren't in your face like a B&M

Why not keep them up? People buy all sorts of things all the time.

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

If you're bumping up against your monthly free listing allowance, it could be a matter of freeing up shelf space, as it is in B&M stores. If you're paying a monthly listing fee, you have to make a cost/benefit analysis on what you're listing.

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I just sold a Christmas potholder tonight.  I will list through January and maybe longer, if I receive listing promotions.

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I just started relisting a few days ago - I had shut down totally the first week in December.  I am relisting all of the Christmas items I had up before; some at lesser prices with that teaser CLEARANCE word and some not at lesser prices.

Of the 18 items I've sold in the past 2-3 days, 13 have been holiday or seasonal.  Oh wait, just got another one - make that 14 of 19.

I have a basic store so don't have to worry about using up 50 free listings (even though I've already gone over my store freebies allotment for the month but I want the widgets available for sale this weekend)  and  I have an ulterior motive:  I intend to blow this popsicle stand this year and it's all going to get sold or gone.  Some of my pricing is indicative of this plan.

In other words, if they aren't listed they won't sell.  I also think the "shop for a bargain for Christmas after Christmas" concept is alive and well.

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I list my Christmas items all year, as I have a basic store.

Just these past few days, after Christmas, I sold 2 sets of Christmas ornaments!

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I run Christmas decorations and things like that for about a week after Christmas for those who pick up things for next year.  My prices are always good, so worth buying and storing away with all the rest of their decorations until the season rolls around again.

But things like Christmas dinnerware, sweaters, themed jewelry, etc. I just pack into a storage bin, seal the lid on, label it, and set it back out of the way for the next nine months.

I'll be starting the Valentine's Day things immediately and St. Patrick's Day and Easter things very shortly.

Bottom feeders are season adverse...if you have a store, list 'em as GTC...it's all gravy

Re: When to end Christmas listings?

I'm going to leave most of mine up.  I've already sold two Christmas ornaments since Christmas-- seasonal stuff sells all year round.  I've sold Easter in December, Christmas in March, and Halloween in July.
