I had a listing removed for a home security camera for a violation of the video surveillance policy. I see tens of thousands of these items listed. When did it become a violation? I am a top level seller and eBay appeal process and help desk were dismissive and horrible. I'm rethinking selling on eBay if this is the way they treat somebody who sends them thousands in fees every month.

If you're sending eBay "thousands in fees every month," then you'll miss eBay a lot more than eBay will miss you.

The wrong keywords will trigger the system.
I got a vintage 90s kids toy removed that was called a "Spycam" a few months back. From what I recall it's only actual function was as binoculars.

It's a side gig, but I am a Top Seller and I do make a lot of sales, which means I do send eBay thousand in fees every month. Yet there is no real seller support.

1080p Wi-Fi 2.4Ghz Light Bulb Security Camera w/ Motion-activated LED Lights NIB
Which words are triggering and how can a person not review this when I appeal and call. It's not a huge listing, it's just annoying.

Let me put it another way. If you're sending eBay "thousands in fees every month," then why on Earth are you "rethinking selling on eBay" just because they have lousy seller support? Ever heard the one about cutting off your nose to spite your face?
Thousands in fees every month for a "side gig?" Color me skeptical.

I think the words that are triggering on that listing are, "Looks like this page is missing."

The policy says,
Most electronic equipment used to transmit or receive signals or for surveillance is not allowed.
I don't see a brand in your title, so I assume it is an off-the-wall Chinese camera. You have to be careful about those. The FCC has banned the selling of new equipment from some of those companies due to national security concerns. Most of those companies make commercial surveillance equipment, but some do make equipment for homes. I don't know if that is why your listing was removed, but it is something to consider.

A smart business man would figure out what's wrong with the listing, fix it, and continue selling, raking in the big bucks.

The Light Bulb Camera is what got you.
"Cameras that are embedded in other objects or that are designed to look like other objects, such as toothbrush holders, stuffed toys, clocks, or electrical outlets"

It was how you worded it. Always keep the description as simple as you can. The bots are watching.

Yes. Sort of like chinese drones that connect to available wifi and upload video and gps info. to chinese servers without the owners permission or knowledge. That fact was never in any descriptions or owners manuals.
It's very possible if they are chinese made they are banned for that very reason to prevent the gathering of information from unknowing buyers.

The email you got from Ebay likely told you more about the issue. Because you may not agree with them doesn't matter. They usually tell us what the issue is. If you'd like to post it here, we can try to help more. Please remember to black out any personal information.
