I sold an item on October 6 for a friend. The seller received the item but has not left feedback. Because of the horror stories about seller's having to accept a return long after the sale, when is a good time to consider the sale completed as far as "EBAY" is concerned.
I would love to receive an answer from someone with EBAY not another seller.
Thank You!

@Anonymous
eBay isn’t here to answer that question. If they were, they would say ‘we provide buyers with 30 if protection’.
What they won’t tell you is if the buyer paid with PayPal or a credit card, they are protected for 180 days from date of purchase. Amex might be longer than 180 days.
I hope you handled the paperwork correctly when selling for your friend so you don’t end up with that sale being attributed to your income for 2021.

As far Ebay is concerned, the buyer has 30 days to file a claim, but they can still go through their payment source.
If the buyer paid using Pay Pal or a credit card, they can file a claim with them for at least 6 months.

@Anonymous
Then you've reached out in the wrong direction. (This forum is made up of buyers and sellers.) I'd like to tell you, though, that you've received correct information, for what that's worth. Good luck to you.

You won't get that here.
180 days.
Then you are considered safe.

Hi @Anonymous
eBay's buyer protection lasts for 30 days past the receipt of the item. PayPal's buyer protection lasts for 180 days from the date of purchase. Credit cards vary as to how long they'll allow a buyer to dispute a charge.
Nobody from eBay mans these Boards. As a long-term eBay member ... I'm surprised you consider eBay the best source of accurate information. [I am neither eBay nor a seller BTW.]

This is a user-to-user messageboard, so you will likely only get answers from other users.
A sale is not complete until the buyer no longer has the ability to dispute the payment, and that depends upon how the buyer paid.
For instance, if the buyer paid for the item using PayPal, I think he has 180 days to file a payment dispute.
But if this person was truly a friend then they would have no problem reimbursing you if a return or payment dispute arises later on.

Credit card charge backs can go a year. eBay allows 30 days for a case and paypal 180 from date of purchase.
It's not an eBay issue, it's the payment service's rules that handle that. Sorry but, you have a long time to "squirm" yet to go.

I thought you closed all your accounts in March:

Oh, no sorry, that it was in January:

Anyhow, I'd like to help but I'm not with eBay. Hope you find the info you need.

Well read ebay's money back guarantee if you want ebay policies on this matter. They will just repeat the policy.
