Seeking advice.
I sell Hawaiian cookies, candies and snacks.
I just sold 4 boxes of cookies.
I currently have 6 boxes in stock with the following expiration dates...
8-20-22 <=== expiring soon
10-18-22
10-18-22
10-18-22
2-15-23
2-15-23
Would you send out the 8-20-22 box or not?

I would as long as its listed with the expiration date, most of those are sell by date anyway

It hasnt expired but it is close, I would most likely eat 'em and send the later ones, but I like cookies LOL

I would and clearly state the expiration date in the description. I think I would put it in the title too and take a pic of the date.
It looks like you have 3 natural lots to sell by date in 3 different listings. I would tier the prices by date, discounting the 1st one the heaviest, and then less or none, and then the Feb ones, none.

I would ship, as they are not yet expired.

you should put a message on it "eat this one first"
seriously though, many folks can plow thru some cookies in no time.
if your plan was to hold back the oldest one, just what woud you do with it
eat it or donate them or toss them in the trash
you could give them 50% off the older box but then that sort of draws attention to the problem
"yeah this guy sent me 4 boxes of old cookies"
maybe send all 4 and include a candy bar as a bonus

I've decided to do the "right thing" and not send the box that is about to expire.
FYI I give all my "about to expire" food to the homeless and they are more than happy to receive it.

Absolutely, I don't know of many households where the box would sit around uneaten until 8/20. As long as the expiration date is visible no reason not to sell them. Besides, it's not like they will immediately expire, just lose some of their flavor and taste but still edible. Sell me your cookies....

Why are you asking me? You know I'd solve the problem by eating all six boxfuls myself.

Cookies in my house seem to evaporate faster than a spilled drink on an Arizona summer sidewalk. 🤣

@lamber9347 I suspect the problem would be the possibility that the shipment might be delayed in transit.

Send it, give a bit of a discount because it's expiring soon (but it's still a few weeks away, most people don't save cookies for months in their house unless they're me, who prefer to eat things that aren't non-perishable). And make a note that says "eat this one first" as another poster suggested.

Roger that, 3 weeks does not happen here.
