Hi
I sold a book for a whooping $13 with free shipping.
The buyer paid but wrote in the comment section "That book better be wrapped good. If it arrives damaged, I will return". (And no "Please if you could make sure the book is well wrapped, I really appreciate it" (Plenty of buyers have asked me politely like the above)
Why using that language when he has 47 feedbacks and we have close to 3000?
We do wrap very well.
I think there is a 50% chance of a return no matter how the book arrives to him.
What would you do?
1) Refund and apologize that you can't find it?
2) Send and hope for the best
3)Make Ebay aware of the comment prior to ship?
Thanks

I would check their FB Left for others. Though in general if I had confidence in my wrapping skills, I would just ship it.
#3 isn't a real option. Ebay doesn't care & won't do anything about it.
ETA: Also, be aware that you will get a Defect if you say you can't find it & cancel the tx, so I would think long & hard about that. Defects can really hurt your account & get you suspended, esp if you are new.

Option 1 earns you a defect on your account, so no.
Option 2: have you looked at the feedback they’ve given other sellers?
Option 3: eBay doesn’t care.

And then block the buyer

I would wrap it well as always, and move on.
Buyer 47, your close to 3000 is the answer.
You know how to ship.
Buyer may have had a bad experience, and does not want another, but lacks social skills.

What would i do?
I would pack it EXTRA CAREFULLY and ship it.

I would wrap it well and send it. I sell books on ebay and Amazon and box all hardcovers with padding, and also thick paperbacks. I am also a buyer of books for my own collection and for gifts. It really bugs me if a book is poorly packaged and has corner bumps. I return them. Your buyer was abrupt and kind of rude, but maybe the last 3 books he bought arrived damaged.

1) Maybe. If you can stand the 'Out of Stock' ding. Then add the bidder to your BBL.
2) Maybe. At least you know what you'll be out (COG, shipping x 2), not counting the Excedrin and Tums.
3) I never advise to contact eBay 'prior' to anything. Flag the note, in case you need it later.
Good luck and good golly.

Threatening to return something before it is sent are grounds no defect, but what there will be is a neg from this buyer. And eBay probably won't remove it.
But like the other posters mentioned, check feedback left for others. If it's all green, flip a coin. If it's all red you're going to get a neg anyway so don't send it.

@weatherloach Some Buyers have had bad experiences and send out those type of messages that can be offensive to some BUT justified with other Sellers who might just throw a book in a bubble mailer and blame the carrier if damage occurs.
We wrap books in bubble wrap and ship books in boxes, depending on the type of book I add a "U" shaped piece of cardboard at each end that is wider then the book ... that protects the corners ...
Just pack it securely and ship it to them. If you want to message them and explain your method of packing you can certainly do so. They will most likely explain they have had bad experiences with other eBay Sellers and I am sure they send THAT type of message to every Seller they purchase from.

#1 and bock him.

Check the feedback buyer left for other sellers. If many negatives, this buyer is trouble. If they are for hardback books with corners bent, then that I wouldn't like either. So pack so that doesn't happen. Regardless, I would probably still put the buyer on my blocked list for the future.

What was the book?

@weatherloach People are people, some simply lack in accepted social skills. I sell dolls and doll clothing. Recently a new buyer to me purchased two pairs of doll panties (they are hard to find) and sent a note saying-- "I hope they are not torn and ripped up." My listing states the panties are not torn or ripped; she used the same wording from my listing. I packaged them as always and shipped. She loved them and gave me glowing feedback.
You wanted to sell this book, that's why you listed it. Package it as you do and ship it off. It is what it is. There is no way for eBay to allow only polite buyers to purchase. Remain positive that not only will your buyer be happy, but they may return and purchase yet another. Best of luck to you....
