This is SICK tactics by eBay to try and bring down a journalist who is trying to bring to light a crackdown on 2nd Amendment rights. And the CEO exits with a golden parachute. **bleep**!!!!!!

I'm just going to say here, there are many who keep rationalizing that a corporation (eBay) is not some how a "person" and should not be held liable.
You armchair lawyer need to brush up on the LAW. A corporation has been considered a person for a very long time. As a "person" a corporation is responsible for what it's workers and managers DO. Not so unlike a mom or a dad being responsible for what their child does.
So can we stop with the long winded diatribes trying to excuse the corporation from the liability the laws hold them to? A simple Google search would educate people of how a corporation IS liable as a PERSON.
Another situation of "like it or not, agree or not, the law does not see it your way".

Totally different! You're comparing apples and oranges.
The airlines were as much victims in 9/11 as the rest of the world. They were used by the terrorists just as Fedex, USPS or UPS, Amazon, FTD or any other carriers who delivered the goods were used by the ebay terrorists.
Ah hah! It was a "Gotcha!" question. I was a contractor post 9/11 to the US State Dept. Wrong answer (Buzzzzz!!!).
There were many lawsuits and settlements as a result of 9/11 mostly circling around airline security.
What makes sense and doesn't make sense in justice systems if often quite befuddling!

You forgot about a situation called “Frolick and Tort. Look it up.

@vintagecraze50 just to be clear, *at no point* did any of eBay's legal department advise "pursuing the Steiners by trying to take down their blog" (at least not on the record in documents that have been revealed thus far).
eBay's legal advisors explicitly said there was not a strong legal case and they did not advise suing - that's it.
CEO Devin Wenig and CCO Steve Wymer then continued to be vexed and frustrated by the online commentary of Fidomaster/unsuckEBAY on ECB and Twitter as well as articles written and published by the Steiners, that frustration was communicated to Sr Director Security Jim Baugh in various ways with various colorful language along with instructions to find out who was behind the unsuckEBAY account and "kill it" and the rest followed from there.
But again, to be clear the legal department had no part in "advising" any of what followed - though it's certainly up for debate whether or not they should have kept a closer eye on what the other execs and security department did after being informed there was not a strong legal case to pursue.

Thank for clarifying that. It was hard for me to determine exactly what they were doing in the discussion.

Well I certainly missed something. You are saying that Ebay lawyers directed these other Ebay employees to do what they did to the Steiners? If there is proof of this, why didn't the FBI indict them as they did the others?

So because you couldn't figure it out, you assumed something like that! What is your agenda? Most of us just want the truth, not guesses or assumptions. It is fine if you label them as such, but you didn't do that.

No No No. They did not do that. They said they could not find a legal way to do that they explored all issues with that.

Dont get your panties all wrinkled with this. My interpretation was wrong. And I have zero agenda with this.

Right now as far as any ebay corporate liability most of this is ALL assumptions based on whatever facts they have uncovered to date.

The childish behavior continues throughout the walls of eBay. From the customer support to the rewording of policies every month. How do these kids even get jobs at eBay? If it's publicly owned, can't they be removed by the public? I call for change. I demand it!

So what has that got to do with anything. Certainly someone at Ebay likely checked with the legal dept regarding the Website if they felt strongly enough about it. But the way you were describing it was like the lawyers advised them on this destructive and horrific path they ended up taking.

My panties are fine, thank you for your concern. You were posting about incorrect information. Some of our posts likely crossed in cyberspace, IDK. But all I was trying to do was have the correct info out there.

Well that is unlikely untrue as well. There was an extensive investigation done by the FBI. That is why all these people are serving time for their actions. If they had found evidence that Ebay as a corporation was involved I believe it would have come out during or after that investigation.

How are you finding a comparison between what was done to the Steiners and what you describe above?
If you want to "demand" something of Ebay, the first step would be to start buying stock in the corp so you can become a shareholder. Once you have acquired enough stock to have enough of a percentage for them to care about your demands, then you will get some attention from them.
