What percentage do you use for your ad?

Hello, I just wonder what percentage is better to use for promoted listing, when in my category eBay suggest me 6.3% but items is not visible, when I go up to 13% its still not really visible, now I'm trying 25% and I'll see what happens,  but 25% on top of 12% eBay takes is too much, so I will not get any profit.

I'm just trying to understand what percentage would be in reasonable range and your item still can be profitable.

Hi, when you say your item is still not visible, what do you mean snd how are you measuring your visibility?

i don’t often use Promoted Listings. But when it comes to my selecting the percentage, it depends on my costs involved, including how much profit i want on the item after fees. Below is a link that should tell you everything you need to know about PL. Good luck.

If you realize there won't be any profit left after adding 25% on top of the 13% fee eBay charges, then why are you adding the 25% on top of the eBay fee. A slow sale with profit is better than giving your things away quickly.

Not visible I mean even after I do promoted listing above of what eBay suggest, my listing still stays below 5th page of search results, I check it either on another laptop or just use incognito tabs on my laptop without logging into my account. On top of that I can see that I get no view per day.

Exactly, there is no point of this much percentage. I agree that slow sales are better. I just compare how I used to sell the same items on another acciunt how it goes right now, and right now seems too bad. So I just wonder if everything on eBay went towards promoted listing or there is still a chance to sell without it or use at least suggested percentage to be able to sell at least something, just takes a long time.

Not if you take the money tied up and invest it elsewhere and sell it the new item quicker. Also, it depends what profit margin you work off of.

Speed_dart3,

You can try 100% and see what happens. Like they say nothing ventured nothing gained right?n

I agree, it's hard to compare now with how things used to be. Covid changed a lot of things, and now people without jobs or in debt from being out of work are less likely to buy something that they would have bought in the past. Keep hanging in there and keep trying to sell without giving all your profit away to promoted listings.

When you pay extra percentage to promote your listings, you are not just paying for your items to be placed at the top of a search page. Ebay employs many methods with promoted listings. Your listings may show up on a sidebar within the site or on a completely different website. I promote most all of my listings and quite often have a buyer with zero feedback make a purchase. They opened the account the same day on eBay because they must have seen my item on a google search or one of eBay's partner sites.

25% seems high, I find a few percent above what eBay suggests gives me the traffic I used to get before promoting became a necessary evil.

Personally I've found that advertising at about 1.5x what EBay suggests gives me optimum profit & sales time/rate ratio, though sometimes Ill increase a few specific items that are less popular closer to 1.75 or so what's suggested just to drive extra attention to those items that clearly need it. If they're Namebrand items though I usually have great success with charging the lowest listed price and NO advertising, when it's something people are searching for a lot anyway it's not really needed. Also, the first results in search results are Top Rated Plus sellers listings, sponsored ads by %, and those with keywords in the listings and lowest prices first, not just how much you're advertising. Hope this helps for anyone who may need it. Have a good day y'all!
