Am I reading my sales report right. Total sales in April = $998.69. Taxes and Gov fees= $44.22. Selling cost = $254.12 or 25.4% which gives me only $700.35 out of my $998.69 sales. If I am reading this right I am only getting about 70% of the items I sell and it's costing me almost 30%. It wasn't no where near that before they changed the way they do it. Please correct me or explain it if I am wrong.

Say you sell something for $25 and you charge the buyer $7 for shipping, you’re at $32 for the sale. But then ebay gives you “without giving you the sales tax” let’s just say it’s $3 sales tax. So now you’re at $35 for your sale. But then eBay gets their cut of about 12.5% so they CALCULATE THIS ON THE $35 witch is $4.375. But first eBay takes the $3 for tax that they gave you “without giving you” out so now you’re back down to $32 for the sale. Then eBay deducts the amount that was already calculated from $35 and deduct it out of the $32 so now the fees for your $32 sale was actually calculated at a much higher amount of the $35. Now your at $27.625 then shipping was $6.85 now your at $20.775 then take out the $0.30 final value fee, Now your at $20.475. If you have an ad fee then you can take that out, but just remember that percentage is also calculated at the $35 and not $32. It almost feels like the seller is paying tax as-well on selling an item since we are being charged fees on the tax that we never get from the buyer. The final value fee should only have been $4 not $4.375. U make 10,000 sales a year that’s $3,750 of fees you paid on the taxes paid by the buyer. Please correct me if I’m wrong

Shipping and taxes are not included in sales to "inflate" the numbers according to accounting rules. Both shipping and taxes are "pass through costs" and are collected and passed on to other entities and therefore are not considered to be revenue.

I don't understand it all. I just know that when I print out a report for all of 2022 it shows that my selling cost is 32.6% which is $4,874.04 out of my total sales of $14,957.69 so my net sales or what I get is $9261.10 out of my $14,957.69 so that means I get about one third.
