I choose title - containing the phrase MLP and nothing comes up, even though I have listings with MLP in the title.
What gives?
How can you trust a search that doesn't return results when it should?

Is it defaulting to a sub-category?

There are over 1 million 240 thousand My Little Pony listings (unless something else also returns for MLP)....
If you can give me a more specific idea of your figure, I can look to see if it comes up for me

You're not in promotions manager, are you? In promotions manager if you're on page 5 but your search results wouldn't fill more than page 1 then you'll see nothing. You have to be on page 1 for your search results to show. It's a bug that drives me crazy.
If you're on your regular active listings page in seller hub then it shouldn't matter what page you're on. Did you double check all the search filters? All categories, all formats, all states, etc?

I have to go to work right now, but I'll check that later.
And no, not on the promotions page - just the active listings page.

I reported the same thing yesterday. Saw a draft that I was sure I had an active listing for. Searched actives for blanket - 0 results - searched for throw - 0 results so I then pulled up just the category listings and there it was with 2 other blankets and yet none of them came up when I searched my active items.

Glad it's not just me then.
How are we supposed to monitor our listings if we can't even trust the search function?
Maybe the blues can shed some light on this (or not)

Listings don't pull up on my seller hub active page search if they're brand new. Usually it takes 5-15 minutes for a new listing to be recognized by search- however if I use a category filter instead of the search term box then the listing will be there instantly.
I don't know if that applies to what you're experiencing?

Years ago, if you searched for something on eBay, the search results were always relevant. Now, if you search: BrandX Widget Blue Size 4, you'll get BrandJ, Red, Size 2, and other irrelevant results. It makes shopping here much more difficult than it used to be.

For about two months now, eBay's search has had problems with inappropriate keyword substitutions -- too many results that do not match the search terms. To bypass the faulty "smart search" feature, you can try putting one of your keywords in quotes or adding an exclusion term to your search.
For some examples of this, see this thread:
This issue is separate from the one raised by the OP, however.
