What is the procedure for buyer to pick item up directly from seller

The buyer wants to be up in person. What is the procedure please? I'm not great with scans and codes:(

The buyer would select local pick up when they are paying. They will be given a code to present to you and you will accept that code through the listing and the transaction is complete.

Sellers are required to adhere to the buyers' shipping method that was selected by them. Seller's lose their seller protection when they can't prove delivery. 

Go now and revise the listing to include the local pick up option. It shouldn't even be an option, actually. Local pick up should be the only way, if we are talking about that gorgeous light fixture.

Thanks SO much for your comment on our light fixture. It hung in our dining room for over 30 years!

I don't care for the code pick-up process. 

Buyer pays in cash at pick-up after they inspect the item(s). If the item is high value, local police stations usually offer an area for such transactions. Check your local police station policies and schedule for such transactions. Seller can then mark sale completed after transaction.

Letting a buyer pay electronically and then pick-up in person or use a third-party shipping service like U-SHIP, could cause a 'never received' case from a scammer. You could possibly lose the item & money.

How do I accept the code the buyer will give me?

You can only enter the code in the eBay app last I tried, not using the website.  When you get it, if it's a QR Code you just point the camera at it after tapping the option in the eBay app and it'll scan it, or if not, you tap Enter Code Manually and just type in the 6 numbers.  It'll mark it as picked up, and you should be protected against a not received claim (but they can still open a claim saying it's not as described, potentially). Most buyers are honest, so usually it goes well, but you should be careful to do it correctly just in case.

If for some reason you can't or don't want to use the app, print a copy of the order page from eBay and have them sign that.  That's the official guideline on what to do if you can't enter the code in the app. I would be less trusting of that option personally.

I never, ever offer local pick up - I'm uncomfortable with that option, but this buyer travels close to our area and prefers to pick her purchase up - I even offered free USPS Priority shipping but she'll only pick it up...

I just had a pickup Friday. Buyer asked if I would do local pickup as they were only about 15 minutes away I said no problem. First thing I did was add local pickup to my listing. After she bought it we messaged back and forth and set a time. She came by to pick it up and I just took a picture of her phone with the 6 digit code number on it then got on my laptop and entered the number, easy. I didn't do the QR code because I don't do Ebay on my phone.

That was the first time I used the 6 digit code, I had always just checked a box that said picked up.
