What is shadow ban?

But that isn't "shadow banning". Shadow banning presumes that the action is being taken without notice. When it comes to policy violations, and being Below Standard, ebay is up front about what actions they might take in those situations.

Now, if you are making your comment to show that ebay has the capability of lowering one's placement in search, etc....yes, of course they have that ability. If I criticize ebay here, and that is followed by a sales decline, that is NO proof that the sales decline is the result of "shadow banning".

You posted a lengthy rebuttal to assumptions you made about the reason for my informational post regarding ebay's published policies. You seemed adamant about disproving what you believe to be my position on the subject. Assumptions.

I didn't consider it a rebuttal of your opinion, since you expressed no opinion. I considered it an expansion on the information you provided.

The only position I have is that Ebay's policy is pretty clear on the subject of hiding listings. That's why I pointed to the policy. I didn't appreciate being called out and having my reasoning questioned for simply pointing to policy I believe is relevant.

And I agree with your position. ebay is very clear that in certain instances, they can and they will hide listings. I have been aware of the policy for a long time. I simply added, for those (not necessarily you) who might not be clear, that such a policy is not shadow banning. ,,and "what is shadow banning" was the question of the thread.

You did not say it was, you did not say it was not. I added a footnote to your statement. This is a discussion board, and we are all free to comment on comments made by others.
