Okay, so this is my very first time using ebay to sell. I've always only ever bought stuff before. So the buyer and I have been in conversation he's interested in. I put "local pickup". However, he's within the same state but he's in a different city (I'm in LA, he's in the bay area), so I have to ship. However, even before I could change the shipping to actual shipping, he already bought the item and ebay says "you can't print shipping label due to local pickup" something along the lines of that.
So my question is, how do I even get the buyer's information now, because I can't see anything at all
Second, WHAT THE HELL IS NET PROCEEDS!???? I posted something for $580, and it says after net proceeds, total fees -$81.67? So I'm only getting paid around $500!?????
And second, how does payment even work?? It says "Funds from this sale will be on hold until we can confirm the buyer has picked up the item. Scan the buyer’s QR code when they collect the item to receive funds within the next day. Without the QR code confirmation, the hold will remain in place for 10 days."
What are they talking about QR code? And where this payment even go, I can't even see where I can transfer the payment, etc.
I asked the buyer about shipping, and he said we can do venmo after I take a picture of the shipping costs which wasn't that much, it came out to $18.40 which is a lot lower than I thought considering the item weighs up to 10 pounds, 19 inches-22 inches (width), 8-9 inches length, and 7.5-10 inches height max, so to have more space to be safe its 22 (width) x 9 inches (length) x 10 inches (height), I'm mailing from Los Angeles to around San Francisco area.
Someone please help, I can't even ship until like Thursday because I have a test coming up for my school tomorrow. How long do I get to ship?

You can't leave it as "local pick up" if the original buyer wants to purchase it! You have to ship it to him unless you plan to drive from LA to SF to hand it over.
And I'm offering unsolicited advice, @louie261991 .
You've come here as a new seller of an expensive item without a clue of what's involved in selling, collecting payment, fees, shipping, local pickup, etc. You claim not to use ebay yet here you are spending the better part of the day (and night) snapping at most of those who've tried to help.
It's been 12 hours since the same item was relisted with the same "local pickup only" and I predict that @louie261991 will be back again complaining that another someone purchased the item and wants it shipped. (How difficult would it have been to list with both options; local pickup and shipping?)
I'll sit back with my popcorn and be entertained.
I know the following posters don't need my apologies but I'll express them because none of you deserved the rudeness that was extended to you and I know you won't get it from the OP.

Louie couldn't figure out shipping... there were "too many" options. That's why he hasn't changed it yet but it seems he has been trying all day.
Does seller school teach this?
Also, how much do YOU charge for such sage advice? 😁
Do you charge S/H for your advice too? Free shipping? Or Local Pick up Only?

I offer plenty of help here for posters who are respectful and sincerely want help.
There's a difference between helping someone learn and doing the work for them. As an educator (IRL), I go by the mantra of "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
@ajs_coins_and_alchemy While I commend you for the time and assistance you've put into this guy's questions, you are doing all the work for him and he's still pushing for more. And even with all the advice he received, he has listed another fairly expensive item with only local pickup as the option.
We were all new sellers at one time and no one (except the OP) is implying that it's easy. None of us knew what we were doing when we started and we all made mistakes. But we read through the TOS, understood most of ebay's policies and asked for help when we needed it. But we did our own work, waiting until we had a basic understanding before taking on items at the pricepoint of the OP's listings.
But the way one gets good at something is by doing it over and over, fixing previous errors, learning how to write clear and concise descriptions, taking good clear pictures, etc. And you @ajs_coins_and_alchemy can't do that for @louie261991 .
My advice to the OP (and it's my last post to this threaed) is to end the listings, find boxes that fit his items, pack the items as if they're ready to ship and (short of having a scale to weigh them) take them to the post office to calculate various shipping options.
That way, he's not going into this blind, not canceling orders resulting in unhappy and confused buyers and he's able to prepare for his first successful sales.
If the OP wants local pickup as one of the options, he can do that but he should still have shipping options available for the buyer who doesn't live within a few miles.
And if he doesn't want to do the work and learning necessary to be successful on ebay, he should list on CL, FB, Next Door or another local site where he doesn't have to figure out shipping costs.
I'm going to put on my fortune teller's hat and predict that the OP will be back in a week complaining about being scammed out of a keyboard and his money because he's going about this the wrong way.

yep and thats why I prefer Amazon over > eBay lol. You're replying to the wrong person lol and they've been helpful. I wasn't even asking you go away

So when your original message said "Someone please help", you didn't mean it?

Just click on regular "Priority Mail 2-3 Days" and forget everything else offered.

learn how to communicate and get some communication skills bud
08-24-2022 09:58 AM
This could very well be the most toxic attitude by an OP that I've ever seen on these boards. I simply can't believe what I'm reading.

Don't know about you, but I am officially done with this. There is enough nastiness available in everyday life that I have no need to seek it out online.
08-24-2022 10:19 AM
Good point. I'm out, too.
08-24-2022 10:24 AM
its uuuuh already been solved anyways, the other person has been helping so, i dont get your point, leave then
whats toxic is the attitude that comes in, its many people who think that of forums, communities on ebay, etc. People come off as rude because they dont know how to communicate. If you took communication class, messaging, texting, etc, is one-sided, it can be taken directly just fyi
if you're teaching someone how to do something, you're telling me it's wrong to teach the other some communication skills lol. Wow talk about arrogance but okay

I agree alberta.
I was a "small-time" educator when in highschool and college actively tutoring and TA-ing.
I took this individual at face value assuming this was his one-off shipping and would go back to doing local pick up only and likely get off EBay for other platforms -- hopefully never having to actually learn this for future situations. 🙄🙄
I don't mind answering this many questions, but after seeing how he continued to respond to you, and others, I'm done now.
The toxicity became even more apparent and palpable after I've answered every question and he still responds to people this way.
Ive seen OPs initially frustrated, but usually they lighten up after a while... the fact that he is still acting this way is just too much no matter who he is responding to.
Really mature for a "30 year old" 🙄🙄
Supposedly he is in school, he needs to study for seller school... no kidding.
