Has anyone else experienced more than normal retracted bids? I have had 5 retracted bids in several days, and one buyer who won an item, paid for it, then sent me a request to cancel the transaction after I shipped it. He then got **bleep** when I told him there was nothing I could do and then said, he will wait until it got there and then just file a claim with ebay and get his money back! I have NEVER had this many issues with the buying community! I have noticed that most all of these bid retractions are from buyer with 20 or less feedback. my biggest concern is that they are damaging my final sales numbers as it lowers the high bid within hours of the auction ending.

Could the current crisis situation be largely to blame ?

I think I'd be more worried that ebay thinks Legos are 'essential' .........

I wasn't aware that ebay was only allowing "essential" items to be sold on their site. can you explain this or is it merely your opinion?

According to the latest policy "changes", all some who knows which items can/cannot be sold for more than twice their MSRP, and would get pulled down for 'price gouging'.

so in other words...that has nothing at all to do with retracted bids, LEGO items, or anything I posted about. Please refrain from posting on this topic. Im not really sure why someone with a feedback score of 0 is offering advice.

You need to understand the concept of a 'posting id'. Most of us on here with 0 feedback use them, but have many, many years of ebay experience.
And if they can pull down a video game or a Minnie Mouse headband for price gouging, then I don't think current Lego sets are going to be immune.
I was just giving you a heads up - you can take it or leave it. Read some of the threads on here.

once again, THIS POST HAS NOTHING to do with removing auction listings. you need to READ and COMPREHEND the question BEFORE you post your opinions!
I and asking about BID RETRACTIONS and the direct correlation of those with low feedback accounts. it has nothing to do with "essential" items. moreover, this is an auction style listing where the bidders set the market value...not the seller. Perhaps you need to understand the concept of auction versus fixed price listings.
as stated before, your "heads up" has nothing to do with the original question. Unless you have any factual information or ANY on topic information, please do not respond to this post. thanks!

Well, with that attitude, I doubt anyone will respond to your post.
But if you want the answer, it's a common one. Most new accounts retract their bids because they either found it cheaper, or found something else they want instead, depending n their finances. And ebay 'helps' by sending emails with lower price same/similar listings, both during and after the auction ends.
And I know exactly the concept of auctions. But you can read threads addressing this, or you can put your head in the sand. Your choice.
I'm out.

Sounds like new buyers with time on their hands. It's a good idea at the time but if it looks like they may win the bid they retract since they don't have the money. Covid Window Shopping.

my question is if anyone else has been experiencing an increased number of bid retractions. it was not why I was getting them. If anyone else has been getting more than normal bid retractions, I would like to know what the solution (or Ebays solution) to the problem is. thats my main area of focus, and is my question. it seems some people just can't understand that goal and have "solutions" for something I never asked about in the first place. see the frustration?

I suspect it's people doing more window shopping and tire kicking right now. Boredom, tight money, etc. On another site I'm getting a spate of really ridiculous offers.

Because they are hiding behind a e bay account of no use but to post in the community. That way when they are smart tails. No one really knows who it is.
