ok,
I have had a Ebay store for the past 12 years. 1 Negative feedback because the usps lost my shipping in the past 12 years...
My issue: Have called Ebay cust. service twice about usps 1st class package increase in price, ($4-5). (pricing me out of the market)
I sell very small fly fishing flies less than 1 oz. every order and within the standard ebay envelope size and weight. (Cost for listing $10-12)
Explained to 2 different Ebay support reps that the price for shipping did not justify me continuing to use ebay unless they offered me the same deal as, stamps, coins, trading cards with the Ebay Standard Envelope.
1 rep said problem was above her pay grade and someone could help me in 72 hr...
No one has called to explain... (as i write-this post is over 7 days old fyi)
Other rep was rude and told me I did not understand the program...
Also told me that I cannot assert my will to get the same deal as trading cards, coins and stamps even though I qualify according to the guidelines of shipping using that program.
2nd support rep told me I could not talk to anyone higher up to address this issue. (?) really? what am I paying a monthly store $ for???
Anyone also shipping products under 3 oz. and within the size or width of an Ebay Standard Envelope please advise or give feedback as it seems Ebay is discriminating against other sellers that meet the programs shipping standard.
My final point is that it shows that EBAY does not care about its sellers or train it's customer support well. Or follow up for that matter....

Well in the CSR's defense, they can't make this change for you. They don't have the power to. They can suggest it to the appropriate team for you, but that is likely the best they can do.
Keep in mind if you have this issue, so does every other seller of similar items do and it is likely they have found a way to survive. Either my increasing their pricing and/or shipping costs or finding another online provider of shipping that get them a rate they can deal with. You do not only have to ship through Ebay. But if you do decide on going to a different provider, make sure you get your tracking on the order updated on the same day you ship for your account health.
Below are the various places you can contact Ebay. I would suggest using Ebay For Business on Facebook. They are better trained CSRs there.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service.

If when you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant, type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options.

I don't see eBay ever adding fishing flies as a category eligible for eSE @flyfishing20. eSE shipments need to be machineable and those flies not only look to be more than 1/4" thick, but the hooks could never go through the machinery that sorts letter mail.
Those will always need to be appropriately packaged and shipped as a package, not as a letter (which is essentially what eSE service is).
What does loool mean (from your subject line)?

Part of the guidelines for eBay's "Standard envelope" incorporates the very short list of categories where eBay makes that service available. I've seen no evidence that eBay is considering expanding eligibility into other categories. It's very unlikely that eBay would consider offering it for items that are not completely flat like stamps, cards, and coins. As mentioned in the other post, the Standard envelope must be not over 1/4 inch thick, and must be flexible.
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/shipping/ebay-standard-envelope.html
Items that might meet the criteria for the Standard envelope could also be mailed without tracking as plain First Class letters. Many sellers of lower-value items (cards, stickers, etc.) are quite successful shipping their items as letters. Even with the occasional fake "not received" claim, it still might put more $ in your pocket.

What did you expect them to do or say?? At this point it would have been reasonable for the CS Rep to say, "OK, bye" since that is totally outside of their control. All they could do is pass along your message.

The people you talk to on the phone can't actually do anything for you because they're in a shack in the Philippines. They have less access to real eBay employees than we do.

While some may be in a different country they all are not. And it is a bit unfair to expect them to be able to change an Ebay policy / program. That simply is not in any CSRs wheelhouse. No matter who they speak to. It has to go to the TEAM that controls the program / tool / policy.
It is however true that the better trained CSRs will be found on Twitter or Facebook at Ebay for Business.

Your sales prices all seem to be $12.95 to $13.95 and by your own statement you have been here 12 years.
Just so you know, I routinely sell hat pins at $12.99 and ship them in a first class bubble mailer as a package for
$3.62 to $4.26 (depending on he distance) and I make a profit on each and every.
After 12 years it would seem you ought to be able to realize:
Raise your price
sell them as assorted lots (thereby spreading the shipping cost over several)
lower your cost
find something else to sell
It is not eBay's job to solve your problems for you.

Problem is you don't meet the shipping standards.
You sell fishing gear, not stamps, coins or trading cards, which is what the program is for.

Maybe I'm missing something... you called Ebay to complain that the USPS is more expensive now?
11-30-2022 12:39 PM
When USPS raises prices, I do as well. I'd offer that you raise your prices and ship First Class. But that's just me...
11-30-2022 01:16 PM
I feel for you since I lost out on selling fishing rod when the USPS put a $15 surcharge on them and the constant shipping increases for the last 6+ years is slowly pricing out more and more items. All ebay is more worried about is raising the 1099 limit then they are about cutting shipping rates.
I get what your asking knowing the fly lures you sell are most likely thinner then some coins, even with hook protectors are less then 1/4" thick. If fly lures where a high dollar, ebay would most likely take a look but their not. But also would be a hard category to narrow down seeing there's different size fly lure or even fly rod size lures that people would try to ship but wouldn't qualify.
Like the others said, the phone reps are useless and going to FB might help, but still a crock(with the fee's I pay, should have someone on the phone in the US). But as far as suggesting including fly lures, I wouldn't have a clue, maybe ask a rep on FB where to send it.
Like the rest of us, best to figure a way to adapt or bow out. I've been doing that for the last 5 years, grouping more lures together, cut back on items I buy to sell and planning my exit. I figure at this rate, I'll be closing down in 2-3 years, already getting my disability paperwork together.

You need to complain to USPS, it has nothing to do with EBay. Sorry USPS put you out of business. No need to bother CS anymore as they can't change shipping cost for you.

No other seller has been given an unfair advantage over you because of the price increase.
There are sellers on here who have forfeited the benefits of their Top Rated status because they are sending out packages without tracking numbers. Consider operating that way.
My final point is that it shows that EBAY does not care about its sellers or train it's customer support well.
I doubt anyone will come along and disagree with you.

its why i quit selling on ebay after 16 years.
11-30-2022 03:36 PM
if i can give you a piece of advice, (i buy a lot of fishing flies) it does not have to do with shipping but it is a direct feedback from a buyer of your products. ....i just bought a bunch of flies (can look at my feedback/purchasing to see what and how many) here in alaska we have some larger fish. many fly tyers tend to make to small of flies for us. (my fave size is a size 6) but would even like size 4s and 2s. look at ALL THE FLY TYERS on ebay and most sell smaller flies. i just bought a couple hundered of the larger ones. (how many small?? none) when most sellers offer small but almost none offer bigger hook sizes....guess were there is a market knitch they are not seeing??? make larger sizes! also...when i am searching flies, i look by size of hook in the title discription. if its not there i just keep scrolling till i see some. one last point is batches..... 6 of one kind of fly i do a LOT MORE buying of, it also helps offset shipping costs. (both those are a big tip) hope some of this helps you and your business. craig
