What is a Unit Type?

I tried researching this but the thread was closed on this forum and I did not see any good answers.  Basically it said it was not a US problem but a UK problem.  All I'm noticing is PROBLEMS all over the internet.  I even had trouble saving this screen shot in photoshop as they've also changed their software DRASTICALLY.  It's bad enough that all our item specifics on ebay were deleted but now we are forced to enter item specifics that make no sense.  Who the hell came up with these?  Modification description?  I never indicated the item was modified.  Then unit quantity and unit type?  Who talks like that?   not a seller and certainly not a buyer.  How is entering anything there going to help a buyer find your item?   Why does it now take forever to create a simple listing?  Why must we add nonsensical garbage to our listings?  This is what happens when you rely solely upon revenge of the nerd types and analytic types.  They over think things way too much.  They cut their finger and spend 12 hour researching the best way to stop the bleeding(and bleed to death) instead of getting a bandaid.  They've never left house and have absolutely no common sense.  Anyone know what to put here?   I'm at a loss for jokes at this point.  unittype.jpg

What is a Unit Type?

I imagine that it refers to what is in the Unit........i.e. if there are 6 items in one unit........

The advice is to ignore what does not apply to your item.........

Unit type to me would be ounces,  kg,  lbs etc.....why would we be entering that here?   I'm listing a Halloween prop.

I tried entering weight units and it auto deletes.  I tried entering any word and it deletes and the drop down menu doesn't work.

What is a Unit Type?

Some answer on google said it refers to a monetary value or something so I tried to enter dollar,  dollars,  US,  sterling etc nothing works and it doesn't belong on a listing.  Who is coming up with this junk????  I tried measurements and nothing works including metric,  imperial etc inches,  miles,  feet etc.....At least give us the option to delete the item specific.

Now yet another site says it refers to physics.  I tried entering the various codes/symbols nothing works and nothing makes sense.  You can't call ebay.  There is no number no call back option.

Bru-uuuhh...

I am still punching walls after the "million populated fields massacre" I was wounded in the other day. I am on Android (and i don't need the "it's better on a desktop" spiel) and the listing I had gone in to change one detail about wouldn't let me revise and exit until I had entered the new item specifics required.

No sweat says I, thinking it would be straightforward and quick.

NOPENOPENOPE...

After an exhaustive menu of mostly unrelated specs

"number of fan blades" - it's a trunk.

"Power source" - uhhh, its a TRUNK.

"How many ESL students does it take to answer a question?" - They can't, their call center is located in a TRUNK at the bottom of the sea.

No kidding, it took me changing the category a few times, only to be met with new questions, and the same level of asinine irrelevance.

"Personalized?" - its A TRUUUUNK.

"Seats how many?" - holy TRUUUNNNKK.

So I broke down and called support because I literally was locked in the listing until I answered the bizarre specs required. I finally figured out that one way to get my specifics up was to go into the ridiculous fields and add N/A, or NONE where I could.

So, with a sixteen year old punjabi girl doing her best to get me to a desktop and telling me that the app is the issue, I informed her that I was on the desktop site on a separate browser, and had bailed on the app around the time she was born at that point, and eventually I...finally...filled...most...fields.

Wait for it.

Too many item specifics, please keep to less than 45 total.

Why youuuu...

Oh, and because its the 21st century and we haven't had any success in user-friendly interface coding since...1998?

There were no highlighted fields either for the necessary specs or the ones that went over my surprise 45 limit.

Pretty sure AOL and AskJeeves had that little trick mastered by the millennium.

Sorry for my long-winded rant, but this has to be the best example of lame, beta version Φuckery on Ebay to date.

Thanks for bringing it up and let's never speak of it again!

Am I suppose to leave time period blank too?   It only gives me the option to auto add something modern 1991-now.  What about the other two categories?   I can only add year,  I can't duplicate the old format.  Why did they screw up categories THAT much?  how is it helpful?   There is technically no longer a Halloween category on Ebay.  It's JUST like Amazon now.  Everything is lumped into holiday seasonal and or yard decor.  That's ridiculous.  Halloween is no longer in the search tree.  This is going to make buyers leave and go elsewhere because now there is too much filtering and people don't filter.  They go to another website like amazon.  Halloween is not a small business.  It deserves its own category and certain its own item specifics.  The entire site is now geared towards xmas.  I'm tempted to move my items and create new ones just to disturb people in the xmas section. It's a very real possibility to generate better traffic now that I'm buried.

What is a Unit Type?

The seasonal CLUMP as I now call it (actually it is the CCC. Cluster-cluck clump) is not even geared towards Christmas.

You'd think that, but after trying to edit over 650 ornaments, it is anything but.

You are correct "unit" comes up in every one with an asterik.  No clue.  I thought it was tied to Bundles?

Shape is making me nutz.  Title says Bell.  Descriptors added or selected says Bell.

What shape?  If keeps defaulting to something that never makes sense and BELL is not a choice in drop-down menu.  Who the he77 didn't include Bell for Christmas????

There is zero correlation to populate as you go thru and it keeps pulling the Color from title to the Character field.

I think the problem is I keep attempting this sober.  Like sloshing first would make this harder?  Doubtful.

What is a Unit Type?

There are many variations of units. Everything from each, sets, pairs, lots for example. N/A works in some of those boxes but not all.

I'm to the point when it comes to fixing these mandatory needless fixes, I process a few and take a break. Maybe even check out a video. See below. Hopefully it will help you smile!!!

Then I go back to it to start over. Only way you can keep your sanity!!!

What is a Unit Type?

Some categories it keeps asking for "character" and the only option I was given for impact wrenches was Batman.

Item specifics is a useless innovation and a bad rollout from a company that should be performing to higher standards.
