What in the world? Email from "Ebay Collections"

This is a first.  On one of my four selling accounts, I just got an email titled "KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT IN GOOD STANDING - PAYMENT NEEDED".

First line:

Please pay your eBay Seller fees

My fees were, and have always been, paid in full through paypal every month.  The account in question had its fees paid on 8/15/18, right on schedule.

And before you ask, no, I don't think it's a spoof.  The email came from collections_us@ebay.com

Yet another "improvement" apparently designed to confound the heck out of us?

My deadline  for paying the Fees was 15th, and the 17th if the 15th is on a weekend, after this I will have it done on the 13th. I have small amount of seller fees due by 9/15 which I will pay off later today.

I have the billing cycle that ends on the 15th, with payment deadline around the 30th, so I apparently lucked out and did not receive that erroneous email myself. I can't wait to find out what they're going to do to us payment-on-the-30th folks around the beginning of next month... stoning, perhaps. Smiley Sad

That's also when the first of the Adyen seller volunteers begin their non-PayPal listings, if I'm not mistaken, so things will probably be getting real interesting, real fast, around about that time.

Hi everyone! Our developers are aware of these emails and are currently looking into the matter. I'll update this thread when I have more information. Thanks!

Hi: Brian  in the 17+ years   of  paying  seller fee's I never once had any issues  of  paying invoice off on the 14th , more than once  all those years  here until now. Over  $5 paid  8/14   and showed 0 due on my ebay seller fee page  , which doesn't count  new fees not yet charged . And I get a hold .  from  what  I was told by the seller fee department  supervisor  it was ebay's  bank payment processer  which was slow  count paid payments. Odd since I paid by paypal which goes to ebays Paypal account?  don't you think.  the rep said hold would be removed in 24 hours.

The seller fee's department  supervisor   I talked  with last night said  it was collection service and their bot's   as well as ebay's bank  slow processing payments claim for the problem .    I  didn't volunteer to do adyen . You are correct  they will be non-paypal  listings.

Just make sure when ebay becomes the MOR you have overdraft protection on your bank account or you'll be sorry...

Oh no. Get one of those bank accounts that is used solely for ebay and nothing else. Empty it regularly. Then have it set up so that any attempts to extract funds are rejected. Better to be restricted from new listings than be stolen from, hundreds or thousands lost in the ebay system with potentially no recovery possible.

It's just pitiful, nothing is working right (I'm getting double drafts when I save this morning), I delete items only to have them reappear again mysteriously, new shipping page defaults all first class charges to $2.66 yesterday, etc. always a new nightmare to confront.

All,

For those who received the email, I'm very sorry for any confusion this has caused.  You will receive an email tomorrow confirming the email was in error.

No action is required or needed on your part.

Thank you for selling on eBay and again, I apologize for any inconvenience.

Brian

It would seem to me that a 500 Free Listings Promotion would be a much more fair, reasonable, and believable way for Ebay to apologize "for the ( latest ) inconvenience."

And just curious:

How did this issue manage to get through "The Enhanced Oversight Process Team" ?

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/We-re-Sorry-for-Recent-Technical-Issues-That-May-Have-Im...

"Please know that we are committed to ensuring a world-class selling experience.

Our goal is to provide you the best platform for your business. In order to reduce the likelihood of technical issues occurring in the future, we are reviewing our testing and implementation practices and instituting an enhanced oversight process for all technical changes that may impact you."

Ebay apology email:

On August 20, we sent you an email with the subject line ‘Keep your account in good standing - payment needed’, indicating that your payment was due. That email was inadvertently sent to you. We’re sorry for the time you may have spent reviewing and responding. We value your time and we apologize.

Your account is in good standing and there is no action required by you.

As always, to review your current payment status:
1. Go to My eBay, and then select Account.
2. Select the All account activity link in the Account Summary section.

Thanks for your understanding.
