What happens when I get one negative feedback on ebay, are there any consquences?

I wrote a post on this and now I can't reply and ask on it anymore. But, I won't go into the whole story of why I got one negative feedback, but I want to know what this means for me. I have been searching online and so far I have not found anything bad happening about one negative feedback. I heard that would push my results down, but I am selling very speciality items, so that won't bother me. If someone wants to buy a doll, they will search it by name and only a few dolls will come up. This would only hurt if I was selling large volumes of things like clock radios that someone could get from another seller at the same price. I thought they would increase my selling fees. I can't comfirm if this is even true. I read it years ago, as a rumor. So, they only bad thing would be less buyer confidence, I assume. So, I am going to just proceed if it never happened, unless someone can tell me what is going to happen.

Feedback is not counted in any part of the seller standards any longer.  Nothing to worry about in this area.  You can monitor your seller standards from reviewing the seller dashboard which will give you all the info in this area.  The seller dashboard can be found from a link on the seller hub overview page.

The negative means nothing really....only thing is consumers may start to worry if you start collecting too many of them.

I would be more concerned about cancelled transaction.

It isn't the neg that is gonna get you, its the out of stock defect you got from cancelling the sale.

Check your seller dashboard, it will tell you what shape you are in.

You can respond professionally to the neg if you care to.  Your professional response is for the benefit of future potential buyers and your benefit, so they will have confidence in you as a seller.  An unprofessional response will cause future buyers to hit the back button.

Your fees won't go up because of a neg.  OOS cancellations can cost you your selling privileges; at the very least, they can put you Below Standard and cost you 4% more in fees.

A neg is not the end of the world.  Good Luck to you.

As others have said, feedback is not counted in the Seller Standards....but it is your "outward facing" reputation to buyers, so always keep it professional in any reply.

The cancel is the bigger problem.

AS long as the neg is on the first page there will be a drop in sales, so it could cost you 200 easily

I complained again today to ebay customer service in great detail

I think feedback about international shipping is not useful to make a buying descision.

How does theft in south America affect my postal receiving in the UK?

So even if it were genuine, not lies, without the geographic information the feedback about shipping is rubbish.

As postal services are the same for all buyers most have one single governmental postal organisation.

Only parcels more than 2 kg and high value orders could be sent with courier service.

So how is the information how fast the internatioal shipping was, useful in any kind?

Why are individual sellers rated for a service they purchase and which is the same to everyone?

Without country information this kind of feedback is rubbish.

Sadly most negative feedback is about international shipping.

Complain to ebay. This is not useful at all to make buying decisions.

Getting a first negative feedback can be a bit stressful. I was very worried about it affecting sales, but surprisingly it really did not seem to make a big difference to buyers. Most of us try very hard to keep 100%, but sometimes you can do everything right and it still happens. I think that the amount of feedback you have, and specifically your detailed seller ratings, have more of an affect on Buyer confidence. I'm really not sure getting a neg affects your rankings, as again, it did not seem to do so for me (though I am not an absolute authority on this). So I would suggest you just go forward from here, give the very best service you can, and not worry about it too much. 

I enjoyed looking at your dolls. I don't collect them, but I do love vintage toys & collectibles in general. As you said, there are people who will know specifically what they are looking for, and will find you. I wish you great selling success!
