What happens if a seller doesn't accept or decline a "return for fit/changed mind" request?

Couldn't seem to find this particular answer anywhere - if a buyer opens a return request for "fit/changed mind" and the seller has a no returns policy, I know that the seller can accept/refund and they can also decline and close the request. But what happens if the seller just doesn't respond at all?

I don't see any buttons for escalation - does it just automatically close by itself after a certain time, or does it stay open forever, or can the buyer actually escalate somehow? (this is not in reference to regular SNADs or INRs where the buyer can escalate).

(it does say "please take action by X date", but doesn't say what will happen if no action is taken).

The seller can accept decline or ignore. Changed mind is buyer's remorse and doesn't qualify for money back guarantee.  If you don't take action,, or escalate the case it will automatically close. If you escalate the case I believe the seller won't be forced to refund for doesn't fit/changed mind.  If you want to be able to return an item if you don't like how it fits you need to buy from sellers who accept returns. Some even offer free return shipping.  You can resell it!

I'm actually the seller so... no need for the touchy commentary on telling people who they should be buying from.

Personally I don't think a no returns policy only encourages a buyer to open Item not as Described case.  But in this case the buyer seemed to be honest and opened a doesn't fit case.  I'm thinking you don't have to accept the return because your return policy is "no returns".

What can happen down the road is getting negative feedback from this buyer as they are now **bleep**.  Gives the seller a bad rap.

You can set up a return policy with buyer pays return shipping.

At this point I think you should weigh the pros and cons of taking the return.  Was it I low dollar value item?  Would you be able to resell it?  Do you want to risk getting a negative feedback?  Can you afford to just right this one off as a lesson learned?

Good Luck

If you let that date pass.  Then the buyer will have the option to ask Ebay to step in.  And if that happens, Ebay may not require the buyer to return the item to you, force you to refund in full, you will NOT get your FVFs back, you get a defect on your Dashboard and you are out the product.  Sometimes however Ebay will have the buyer ship the item back before refunding and of course you will pay for return shipping.

Not responding to the request for return is about the single worse thing a seller can do.  Not only does it tell the buyer you have no desire to work with them, it says that to Ebay as well.  Which is why Ebay reacts in the way that it does if the buyer asks them to step in.

But why the heck are you even considering this.  You have the option with a No Return policy to simply DECLINE the return request.  If you don't want to take the return, why would you not do this.  Why would you even consider opening up a whole to can or worms and the problem that would happen to health of your selling account as well as you financially.

FYI, a seller should not EVER ask Ebay to step in.  In the current Simplified Return policy, Ebay will 99.9% of the time rule for the buyer.

But it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever why you would even be considering this when you can simply decline the return and be done with it.  You are covered under the Ebay rules to do this.
