Why has Ebay eliminated such detailed specific categories as "Art Pottery" "European Art pottery' and makers name? I'm sure there are dozens more categories which have been needlessly been deleted. All the categories are now very general.

You can't even list vintage Fiestaware in its own category!

For every person sad about less categories I am sure there are others quite happy that they don't have to try nearly as hard to select between the 7 different categories that special items might belong in.

eBay has been steadily re-organizing the site so that users can use item specifics to refine searches rather than categories.

Sellers do seem to be really bad at choosing categories. Oftentime when researching comps I will see the same item with sold history in many different categories, some just plain wrong.

The only thing that makes sense to me is it must be cheaper to run the site with less categories. Makes it more important to include every detailed word in the title and fill out as many item specifics as possible.
