I listed some products which are fairly high in price. It says in the Ebay fees information section that if I sell an item via a "Best Offer" then the selling fee is $44, but if it sells as a "Fixed Price" then it is 10%. This makes a big difference to my fees.
So if I place an item for sale for $3000 on "Best Offer" and someone buys it at full price, then I pay $300 in fees, but if they offer $2999 then I only pay $44? Is that correct?

what category are you listing in?

Items are located in Australia.......I don't know where they are listed, but a different fvf for "best offer" doesn't sound right for USA.......

That doesn't make any sense. Do yo have a link to that page, that you could share? I suspect that you are misinterpreting something, perhaps an example of how the rate is applied.
EDIT: OK, I found the page, about fees for sellers in Australia. That $44 fee is for Classified format, not for auctions or fixed price listings. And maybe Classifieds are only for services?

Classified ads in Australia are a format that we don't seem to have here in the US:
The classified format is available for listings in certain categories. The fees for your Classified Ad will vary depending on the category and duration of the listing.
How to sell with eBay Classified AdsHere's how to create an eBay Classified Ad:

I'm located in Australia. The item was listed under "Cameras".
I searched for the "Classified" option while listing my item, but couldn't find any such option. The only thing I found was a "Best Offer" which is what used, but this seems to be part of the Auction & not a classified advert.

So I found "services" listed under categories but it is very difficult to find and didn't work. When I chose "services" and listed a "repair service", it gave me the choice of "used" or "new"...which makes no sense. On choosing any of the options I just got a completely blank page. Basically it didn't work.
I looked at some listed services (not sure how they managed to list them) and none of them had "Best Offer" as an option.
The explanation they give in regards to pricing is not very clear. From the description below I interpreted that anything selling as a "Best Offer" is a "Classified Ad" and anything that involved bidding or was sold for the "Fixed Price" was an "Auction". I deduced this because there didn't seem to be any "Classified Ads"...only the standard auction and a "best offer" system.
Auction or Fixed-price ---- 10.9% of the total sale amount, to a maximum $440 per item
Classified Ad --- $44.00 for items sold with Best Offer (available in the Services category)
