What does TRS mean?

Totally Resentful Seller?

Really, after promising all kinds of better placement rewards to me as a TRS, and encouraging me to comply with every thing in the past few years, now that's all up in smoke?  I have to pay 30-40% in additional fees to be promoted & seen? or else?

What good is it to have a store when you direct buyers to who pays more?

Yeah, free market & fair practices for sure.

What does TRS mean?

TRS and all that stuff is pretty much meaningless. Buyers don't care. eBay doesn't care. There is no tangible benefit. So, all your points are valid and show, it is a meaningless title with absolutely no benefit to the seller beyond the fact your buyers are probably happy with you, which is important by itself.

Relative to promoted listings, I think the 1% bid amount has shown to be just as effective for many sellers as the higher percentage eBay wants sellers to pay.

Good luck!

Exactly what sort of placement did they promise you?

Here's what the Top Rated Seller page says. I don't see much of a promise, let alone "all kinds" of them. All I see is a vague mention of a "boost".

What's the Top Rated program?

  • Consistently deliver outstanding customer service pays off.
  • By offering the services buyers want and giving them a great experience, you may qualify as a Top Rated Seller and give your listings a Top Rated Plus badge.
  • Reap the benefits of your hard work, like giving your buyers trust in their purchase, giving your listings a boost in eBay search, and even quarterly credits for Promoted Listings.

I have two selling accounts, and for a while one was TRS and one was not.

Through eBay labels, I was paying $2-$3 more per package for First Class International on the non-TRS account vs. the TRS account.

That was pretty tangible to me!

What does TRS mean?

The extra 10% discount on FVF means very little to me since I am a low volume seller in a niche market, so I won't be adding free return shipping.

What I missed most when I lost TRS was the commercial plus discount on priority shipping.

Now that I got it back, my sales are so slow that not many of them require priority shipping, as most items ship first class parcel.

Sellers tend to confuse the requirement so achieve TRS status with TRS+.  They are not the same.

You can be TRS without having a single listings qualify for TRS+.  TRS+ is a rating that is only for listings that qualify.

The ONLY benefits of TRS+ on a listing is the badge that appears on the listing and a 10% FVF discount.  NOTHING MORE.  That is it.  To qualify fro TRS+ on a listing there are 3 requirements.  1. You must be TRS.  2.  Offer Free Returns.  and 3.  0-1 day handling time.

While not a lot of benefits, all other benefits are because of the TRS status.

I'm TRS but I gave up TRS+ when the newest changes went into affect.  It is no longer cost effective for me to retain TRS+ on my listings as that $10 savings per $1000 worth of sales just isn't worth it to me to offer free returns.

Same here---I will not offer free returns to get that measly discount.  This week alone proved to me how foolish that would be.  The shipping on two returns I just got back was almost $60. and the discount would only have been $3.88.

I have that "title". Just last month I paid $99 in fees, only Ebay.

And, it seems that I didn't sell that much.

Ebay is getting too expensive to work for.

You may feel that way, but it doesn't make is so.  While there are other sites that don't charge listing fees, you need to look at the overall fees when a sale happens to be able to accurately judge if the site is expensive or not.  The grass is not always greener on the other side.

There have been threads stating that Ebay fees are too expensive.  It can seem high.  Although I understand your concern,  it is what it is.
