I have so many neat things that I want to put on eBay:
A rare book on horses (put up, but taken down by me).
A rare Western hunting knife.
A very rare 1800s leather bound book in German on spas in Switerland
An very rare original copy of Agitated Japan, not a reprint.
A rare Erie fluter.
A rare carved wooden Japanese Noh mask brought back as a WWII souvenir
A rare copy of Jan Sill's Axis Pistols
A rare painting by Thomas Corwin Lindsay
A rare Nambu holster
Etc., etc., etc.
However, for now, I think I will sit on them.
With the new return policy, I cannot risk listing them and a dishonest person "buying" them, returning something else, and me losing the item and some money to boot.
I am not saying buyers are dishonest. I love buyers. It's why I get up at 4:00AM and hit the acutions and the markets. But now I know that if there is someone who decides he/she wants one of these items and doesn't want to pay for it, then eBay will enable that person.
eBay's new return policy hurts honest buyers. People on these boards have decided they can't chance putting up quality merchandise since those who are dishonest on the buying end will prevail. eBay has decided to give preference to the dishonest buyers instead of to the honest buyers and honest sellers. Not all buyers are bad, but for some reason, eBay has decided all sellers are.
This too, shall pass, I imagine.
I have good stuff. I'm willing to part with it for a piece of paper with a number at each corner. But I have to be sure I will get that piece of paper.

Potential profit is simply the reward for risks you always take when listing an item.
Unfortunately without some risk of loss, there are no profits.
Do what is possible to minimize your exposure to some of those risks.

That's what happens when you can not leave an honest feedback, it makes it easy for dishonest people to find the crack and exploit it.
I like how ebay tries to convince me to accept a low offer
1- It's only $49 less than asking price.......Yes, but the asking price is $99
2- Only 3 people watching...... That's fine with me
3- Buyer's feedback is 100%......Really? Let me check.
So, all 3 points ebay made don't make any sense to me specially the 3rd point, the only time I saw less than 100% is when the buyer was a seller too.
