I search for the fees for this $ 4.99 paperweight and the fees shown are $ 1.97. That's what eBay shows.
How?

I guess that difference has to with the $ 9 billed shipping. I think I would have been money ahead to throw it in the trash.

What is the shipping and tax? Where is it going? Were you hit with the 1.65% international fee?
Under payments tab in Seller Hub, find this transaction. It should break down all fees.

Remember, the FVF is a percentage of the total payment including shipping and sales tax. So the final value fee would be 12.55% of $4.99 + the shipping cost + the sales tax based on the buyer's location

Yep. Low price items that cost much to ship are not worth listing here. And, you also risk losing shipping if a SNAD is filed. In some cases you can "bundle" such items into a lot and sell them that way.

Never mind from someone with over 25 000 posts on the community boards? 🤔

He has to be goofing with us. Dude sells a lot of low end items - no way he hasn’t seem this type of FVF before.

That's okay. Most of us have brain fog once in awhile (or often) and you've been through a lot recently.
