From the home page banner ad.
Anybody else scratching their head over this one? How do you slash prices on merchandise you don't own? Don't you think this is quite misleading for buyers?
I'm stumped. Anybody else want to try?

It states, new deals drop daily, so it seems to be referring to the Daily Deals.
Sellers sign up to participate in those. They change all the time, and are, as specified, daily and represent huge savings. Thus the "What price will we slash next?" as it is part of Ebay's Daily Deals. It being Ebay's because they coordinate these sales.
No need for any general alarm. Being that there are different sellers involved, it would seem the buyer would know what is going on and what the message means. Thus Ebay in terms of being the venue that is offering this.
JMO YMMV

You are correct. It is for buyers to know that specific sellers involved in the daily deal program will lower their price. It is an advertisement to get people shopping. No different than any other ad be it radio, tv or internet. Some just have a hard time figuring things out around here.

Then it should be "What Price Will They Slash Next"

Call on the grammar police!! 😉
It's meant to get the buyers attention. They don't think into what the words mean, all they see is SLASHED PRICES...

Sure we "think into what the words mean", hence this topic. Do you think buyers are stupid?

Guess you DO think buyers are stupid.

With all due respect, not really because it is part of EBAY'S DAILY DEALS program.

You're right...it's all semantics.

As a buyer, I really don't need or have to read descriptions, most times I don't have the time. I want to buy a coffee maker "XYZ" and I want a new one, so I search for coffee maker "XYZ" and sort by lowest price and filter for new, then just to make sure I look at delivery and sellers feedback if less than 99%, so you can see how much I have to do before I hit the buy button. I do read descriptions for items with defects.

It could also mean we, as in Ebay and those sellers.
