Well this is not promising

"Automatically relist this item up to 8 times if it doesn't sell."  Eight times - yikes when you just want it sold on round one or maybe even 2.

But when it doesn't sell the first or second time, it's reassuring to not have to worry about relisting since you can opt in to having it done automatically.

Well this is not promising

This is me- if it doesn't sell raise the price. If it still doesn't sell don't relist it for a couple of months. If it still doesn't sell donate it.

There is so much stuff on eBay that a item may not get many views within the first listing.  The repeat listing gives it more exposure time.

 

You do not have to accept this option.  There are people who really like this option and wish they could always have it available.  The availability is intermittent as eBay offers it to select sellers at set times.
