Ebay has finally put the last nail in the small sellers coffins:

eBay moving heavily into product-based format and pushing low prices were both made very clear in last week's video with Bob Kupbens. Like it or not they are two of the key targets for eBay's direction this year.
Bob even said he loves the transparency a product page offers referring to pricing. It's going to be all about racing to the bottom. I got an e-mail last week with an "inventory recommendation" and the text said to list in these eligible categories at lowest price on web then they included Brand recommendations.
Bob also said some categories will never conform to product-based format and referenced pre-owned clothing as an example.

I wonder what "Issue No. 4" of 'The Modern Seller' is going to be about.

I'm sure Sweatpants from China will be avail in more than four different colors as well as thousands of listings--but only new at >99cents with free shipping-- Great deal -that is if they fit or even received.
Sadly i won't be able to get a great deal from Chinese sellers---I don't buy from Chinese sellers--been there-done that !

I read that article earlier. I just posted about it also, and Wenig stated that it would be the "Only" way to shop on eBay, which contradicts part of what Bob stated.

Pushing out the small sellers. He's knows that they can't compete, and the used sellers would have to fight for pennies, and will leave.

Ah, yes, but Wenig is the boss (isn't he?) and has, according to the article, spoken it. Bob, must have mis-spoken, or was 'taken out of context', somewhere down the line.

Wenig wants this site to mirror a new product catalog. He also wants people to photo shop, by scanning through the photos that eBay provides you with. I'm just glad that I don't rely on eBay for income. I feel bad for those that do.

I've been dead in the water for over a month now with not one sale. Totally not normal. Get ready for a complete 180 by the end of the year.

It's sort of ironic he says that, then goes off into a long discussion about selling iPhones.
As I recall, didn't the last CEO here have an epiphany while watching someone search on eBay for a phone that resulted in "Best Match"? That was 10 years ago, and they still haven't figured out how to sell phones correctly?
That was a "relevancy" search sort. One that users did not, and still do not, find resulted in any sort of Best Match.
Then, someone decided it would be a good idea to filter all the search results using that same relevancy algorithm, regardless of which sort the buyer had selected.
Now, they basically are going to use "Best Match" and just show the first four results? LOL.
Do you suppose he's even aware that their "Buy Box" page is resulting in buyers purchasing something completely different than they thought they were buying?

So that antique cameo I just sold for 1500 and that pre-owned set of Miki pearls for 1295, ebay wishes me to sell such lovelies elsewhere?
Well, okay. And that is what I also buy. And I will buy with my $$$ elsewhere, too.
And ebay can sell backpacks. Or something for 12.99.
I see a dying site.

Hilarious. Does he even know anything about shopping? Not everything is a scan/glimpse off a phone. I spend so much money here, but i'm thrilled to take it elsewhere.
